Zinc Coating

First of all, do you think they would let me get the zinc coating extra with the 10% off? Second, does this do anything at all anyway?

Yes my avatar is still white guy dancin away.

The 10% off applies to any SVX product that you buy from them...zinc cozting stops rust, they told me the ones they had in stock for the group buy time all had the zinc coating but by now that may have changed.

re: zinc coating

i just ordered a set of 4 rotors today with pads. they still came with zinc coating. i know the argument about drilled vs slotted, but the sweet Kim Chi told me that drilled vs slotted doesn't matter as long as you don't drive like a madman. is that true? what do you guys think? if you think that drilled and slotted suck, let me know now so i can change the order!

thx guys

Just got my rotors today and they look very nice. I'll have to remember to take some before and after pics.

Does anyone know if any special tools are required to remove the rear rotors? I've done the fronts before, but haven't touched the rears because of the drum brakes, which I'm still waiting on. It'll be good to have properly working parking brakes again.

The parking brakes are drum brakes integrated into the rear rotors. The rear is actually two braking systems in one. I'll try to remember to take some photos for future reference.

The E brake/ parking brake is a drum set up; it is on your rear axels.....
This was the common setup for many cars with disk brakes around the era of the SVX design days.

yes go look at them, there will be the drum inside of the disk part of the brakes...that is how all of the SVXs came. Look at the following links

Rear brakes '97

Well since I have nothing better to do while I wait for my other brake parts, I took some pics of my slotted rotors.

When I arrived home from work this evening I saw that a box was "hidden" under my front door welcome mat. After hiding the salt encrusted Batmobile in cluttered Batcave, I walked to the door, pulled the mat aside & there they were! I bent over to pick up the box. I quickly realized these weren't the CDs I ordered from Amazon. After donning my truss, I dragged the box into the Batcave & read the lable. "Greetings from Mr. Elvis Nguyen". Now if THAT ain't what America's all about.....! I open the box. Wow! They're round & shiny & groovy. It's a shame they have to be screwed onto a car that'll get'em all dirty & salty.

Thanks to Leslie again.

Ron (experiencing gro'in pains).

Glad to hear things are going well with this thing.... I think Elvis and Kim are two of the best people with a company i have ever talked to. And if the products are as good as i hope then all the better.
