"Official Club" questions.
Believe it or not, the Board of Directors of the SVX World Network, have been working behind the scenes, trying to get the "Official" club up and running before the 10th Anniversary Meet.
After some discussion tonight in our meeting, we agreed it'd be a good idea to throw some questions out to all of you. Here they are. 1. What would you expect to get for your paid membership? 2. How much would you be willing to pay for your membership? 3. What type of "Official Club Merchandise" would you like to see offered? Though we've had lengthy discussions about all of the above, we want to make sure we're on target. Thank you for your cooperation. Randy

Having never been in an official car club before, I really have no concept of what membership fees are normally like. Can anyone provide a baseline?
Can the membership dues include access to the secret highway the government built underground to move UFO's around? mmmm... secret highway but, seriously, someone throw some numbers out and we can go from there? Obviously I think the SVX group is more valuable than say... a club devoted to Cavaliers (oooo, burn on mikey) -Colin |

Hmmm. Dues to Mensa is like, fifty bucks, and all you get is a big head and weird looks. Yeah. That sounds about right. Not the fifty bucks though.
Answer to question #1. A big head and weird looks. Oh, and a yellow map-pin. (What's up with that?) Answer to question #2. Something less than fifty bucks. Way less. Answer to question #3. No puzzle or brain-teaser books. Nothing even remotely fluffy. No T-shirts that say, "How many SVXers does it take to change a light bulb?" Maybe chocolate.

1. Communication with like minded helpful nice people.
Some form of recognition on the network that one is a member e. g. a logo or badge enabled with ones signature. 2. DonÕt have a clue regarding the going norm up there but remember our money is well watered down. 3. A car badge or at least a decal. No junk unless there is profit involved but donÕt expect me to buy it.

He should come in his Yellow SVX wearing his zebra stiped bikini briefs. 2) As many $5 bills as can be stuffed into the zebra striped bikini briefs while the president does a "Table Dance at each SVX site. 3) Aw comon' !!! You guys are making it way too easy !!!!! Larry III PS: Randy, You would be great in the new 7-Up commercial showing the photo shoot of the ir truck drivers. |

As a visitor you can look but not post or search or copy from the site. (Is that possible?)
As a “new” (whatever name, it is a lower level) member you can post and look in lockers but not add to lockers & no adding of links to posts. (Would this save space on the server.) As a full member you have complete access to the site, posting, lockers, search etc…. I think we have a few “active member” Let’s call them the people that have put stuff into lockers. Then we have the temporary members that are buying or selling a car. I guess we also have the “Devoted Members” the ones that want to keep the car forever. Membership dues should be about a dollar for a lifetime for Devoted Members. Then we got people like Beav who have really been helping out a lot. Beav should be a permanent Honorary Member with no dues or maybe we should pay him to be a member. As far as membership benefits, could we get group life insurance? Or how about group tranny insurance? As a member could we get a copy of the lockers on CD every year or so? I would also like access to the “Clubs” special tools. You know tools that would be loaned out to members. The member would pay shipping both ways. This could include the loaner TCU and ECU, “RACK ADJUSTING WRENCH”, tranny brake band adjusting wrenches, The tools could be kept in a central location and sent out and returned by a trusted member. For this “quartermaster” duty I would be glad to volunteer. Would also be possible to get wheel bearing assemblies, housing, hub, bearings and seals on an exchange bases? Now that would be a great member benefit. I would also volunteer to stock these items at the clubs cost. |

I appreciate the kudos that people give me from time-to-time but I'm more than willing to pay my way.
I agree John, with the exchange items plan, that same idea has crossed my mind on more than one occasion. Plus as a buying group we could command lower prices from suppliers. (I still haven't been able to decipher who is rebuilding Subie's reman trannys though.) We might even be able to secure a reliable extended warranty underwriter for a reasonable rate. Also nice to add would be the mileage badges similar to those supplied by MB, etc. But these all fall into the 'things to come' category. My vote for inclusions into a fledgling organization would be the decal, membership card and site access. Other benefits to be added as time/space/revenue permits.

Hows about quarterly updates as to a list of members, their phone numbers and or address(with their permission of course) so you can locate local enthusiasts...

These are (mostly) good ideas. Keep them coming.
As for the "table dance," Larry, that is an EXCELLENT idea. With the size bikini briefs I'd have to wear, to fill them should set the club up for years and years to come. Meanwhile, while the "official club" will be helping support the Network Forums, the Forums and the "Official Club" will be two different entities. The Forums will continue as they are, free for all, unless Chris decides differently.

2. The membership for my cav club is around $40 a year. if you pay it, it gives you a set of stickers, and unlimited posting on their message board. If you dont pay the 40, you are limited to a certain number of posts per month. They also have a monthly payment option, but it costs more. 3. I want official svx club transmission with the logo etched on the side. -Mike |

Seriously,
One thing I would like to see is a complete set of shop manuals from '92 thru '97 ready to be scanned into computer and available to all members who have their dues paid. I have '92 manuals plus a '97 supplement available to be scanned. I'm sure others have 93, 94, 95, & 96 supplements that they can make avaiable. I think that the hard part is getting the non-USA or North American manuals for scanning. I would also like to see a Tranny Help-Out Loan Fund. I broached this idea a few years ago but no one seemed interested. at that time. Larry III PS: I can't be all serious. For the "How many SVXers does it take to change a light bulb" T-shirt, The back of the shirt should say Trunk Bulb.............1 SVXer Glove Box Bulb......2 SVXers Taillight Bulbs....... 3 SVXers Headlight Bulbs.....4 SVXers Dash Bulbs............5 SVXers Raio Bulbs..............Fahgetaboutit |
