Well, that's a new one...

Like most others on this board, I've had people ask me if my car was anything from a Probe to a Vette. I got a new one tonite, though. I was in the drive-thru at Booger King waiting for my food, and two fry jockeys where fogging up the windows staring at the car. Finally, one of them opens up the windows and asks me if "that's some kind of super Impreza." Thats a first, but at least he got the make right. I say no, it's just an SVX. After watching him stare at me blankly for a few seconds, I noticed a few motorists behind me waiting for their heart attack on a sesame seed bun. So I said "It's way better than an Impreza, trust me" and sped off.

...In other news...

So, I told a co-worker of mine that I would build him a home network. I needed to sneak some extra income by the wife anyway, as the CD player in the SVX is about shot, and I need a new one. The perfect crime. So tonite I started on the wiring. While I getting ready to punch down a wall jack, his hot daughter walks by me for like the tenth time in her bikini. So I get a little over excited with the cable shears, and caught the tip of my finger with them. I keep those things razor sharp, so I didn't even notice until I saw the blood everywhere, and I do mean everywhere. But at least I got her to play nurse for me.

Re: Well, that's a new one...

You're silly man!

Yeah, you're lucky the Booger King dude guessed it was a Subaru...that's a first!

The typical guesses I've heard are Ferrari, Corvette, 3000GT???

I had a Guy at Circuit City tell me that he was 95% sure that my car was a Toyota, even when I told him it was a Subaru............

On a slightly better note, quite a few people have asked me if it was a Ferrari, and even some mistake it for a Lotus!

On my way back from buying the car in Illinois, a McDonald's teller said "That's a weird car. It's different, but it's cute." Then a toll worker somewhere in PA said he had never seen windows like that. After that, I knew it was meant to be

recent observations

A lady friend of a lady friend, upon getting a lift home from work in my car:
"I love it! This car has more personality than any I've ever seen..."

Attendant at the recycling station, butt dangling from lower lip:
"What the hell...? That's a Subaru ?!?

Seventeen year old daughter of a lady friend:
"This is the cutest little car. Never seen a Subaru I'd ride in. Uooohh... will it do one-sixty?"

Son of a lady friend, Accord owner, nodding his head, grinning, and imploring:
"Com'on, dude, we gotta run 'em..."

It does get attention.

I had this short conversation at a CVS store the other day with a guy sitting in a really beat up truck:

"So.......do just the small, lower windows roll down?"

ME: "Yep. Cool, huh?"

"Sure is. Pretty sharp, man, pretty sharp."

Wink

I went to Autozone the other day and an attendant was outside taking a cig break.

He looked at my car and had a puzzled look on his face??? He asked me what kinda car it was and I said a Subaru SVX. He then asked if he could sit in it, and when he was inspecting the interior asked me if my stereo was a delete option like on the new WRX STIs. I said it came with one, and it was behind the plastic screen...

He kinda looked at me with a childish grin, pushed the button and went "WOW!"

Well, the one guy who guessed my car was a Saturn explained himself by saying "I remember you told me it was made by some unexpectedly boring car company that started with an 'S'..."
