Angry Meet Monster

I don't care. I will not be vanquished by this fiend. After having my wheels opened up in the rear to get the wheel bearings replaced (it ROARS), I have come to discover I have no break pads in the back. its been metal to metal for some time now.

The mech thinks that that may be the roar I hear, but he's changing the bearings anyways. and he gets to keep it in his shop for the night as rotors and pads are being shipped over night .

I'm a musician by occupation, and I actually sold one of my saxs to cover this repair. Is that dedication to the SVX or what? I keep telling myself I didnt like that sax anyways...

But yea, it was amazing the condition of the rotor. it was chewed all to heck. When that happend in my ford tempo, it SCREAMED when ever I touched the breaks. this metallic sound. but there was no sound in this case. unless this low roar with or without touching the breaks actually was the problem and not the wheel bearings at all. oh well..

(I'm telling you I didnt like the tone of the sax anyways.)

That sucks. A good friend of mine is a horn player, and throughout college he kept selling his horns because he needed the money. He'd sell them, then his mom would buy them back for him. Sick cycle and it killed him every time.

Thats funny, I tried playing sax in school, then realized I sucked at it.

Your lucky you didn't destroy your calipers too. This must already be getting expensive.

saxy

I'm making due with an Alto Selmer Mark VI at the moment. I just sold a Yamaha YTS 21 to some kid around here for 400 bucks.

So like I said, I really didn't like the tone of it anyways(really!). But kind of stupid of me to sell the only tenor I have...

I just purchased a few days ago a Beuscher C Melody sax on eBay. Should make it easier on me when some jerk comes up and requests some insanely hard song that we only have the music for the piano for Transposing a minor third in your head is annoying. makes it so you can't have any fun, your to busy thinking Though the tone on a Melody sax is kinda messed up, the fact that its in key of C makes up for it. When ya need it, ya need it. I'll find a tenor someplace I like.

Well they didnt say anything about calipers... maybe they are waiting till I've sunk enough into it that I can't turn back.

My real pride & joy is a 1948 Selmer Clarinet I bought off this geezer in Canada. This old geezer, happend to be Robert Roby, who played for Woody Herman from 1945-1952(proven). And This clarinet (claimed, no proof) was played by Woody Herman at one concert cause his own was left elsewhere by accident.

To bad no one wants to hear Clarinet these days. its just sax sax sax sax. . Ah well, I like sax too I suppose

I walked down again (its begining to annoy em) and looked in on the car a moment ago. dang that whole brake assembly looks like craaaaaaaaapola. how could that not of been making a racket of noise?

ALMOST FORGOT!

DARK TEAL SVX SPOTTED IN NORTHERN VT.

While walking the mile or so to the garage I am having my SVX repaired at, I looked up, and right in front of me at a stop light, was this beautiful Dark Teal SVX. Oh, big double take, and I waited for it to turn. and it turned into a big huge parking lot and I started to chase it on foot. I was around half way to it when it changed its mind and left the lot without stoping.

Maybe he thought I was a car thief

I'm tryin' guys, I'll find some one some day, and induct them to this forum...but chasing an SVX on foot, is a losing proposition. If only I had been in my car(it has neat neon lights in it, that makes it go faster ).

Zavikan, it appears you have some knowledge as to the value of clarinets. I have one called the Pan Am by a division of C.S. Conn, LTD. It was purchased in the late '40s (Yes, Nineteen 40s), by my parents so that little Ronnie could become the next Artie Shaw. The rest is history, as the instrument now collects dust in its case somewhere buried in a drawer. The one distinguishing feature of this instrument is its construction from teak wood. At least it looks like teak. Would this long forgotten musical rarity be worth enough to allow me to retire to the Carribean island of my choice?

Thanks, Ron (giving a toot).

sweeeeet

You bring that baby down to Reading. I DEMAND IT. I always wanted to play on one of those. I've heard of them before. But I really want to hear the overtones caused by the bizarre choice in wood. If its not working, I'll try to fix it, if it is, I'll play it. and if I like it, I'll buy it and I'll sell one of these other damn instruments I have here if I have to, to get it

But so you know, rarity is actually not the beeeeest of things in clarinets well, non conformity at least.... it generally means a failed experiment, there for, the instrument is worthless as an instrument, and its only value is as an unusual item. Though I dont know if this is the case. Conn in the late 40s made beautiful instruments. Seriously, going to reading?

If you're speaking to me (Ron); yes, I'll be at Reading. The instrument is in very good condition. No cracks & in the original case. Please bring a certified check for 5K. See you in Aruba.

Ron (Thanks for making me take those miserable lessons, Mom).
