Transmission Upgrades/Recalls for 92 SVX
Newbie question here.
Just bought a 92 SVX... Were the factory transmission upgrades (filter, etc) available for the 92 4EAT transmissions performed under a recall...i.e. at dealer cost ....or optional at owner's expense. If ...at dealer's cost....can I still get them done on a car this old... Warren C.

Welcome to the site. I am not sure if they still install them at their cost or not. If they don't, you would be better off installing a PermaCool or some other equivalent filter. The other thing that is a good idea to do is install a cooler as well. I have some information in my locker that show the filter and where to install. It is quite simple. Good Luck.

Generic Radiator Available - sans Cooler ??
Earl,
Thanks for the feedback.....WOW!....that's quite a FLEET you show behind your name....guess you should know. You must be single. How do I find your "locker"? Was also thinking..... RADIATOR QUESTION: Since my radiator is busted and the factory version with the cooler incorporated is inadequate ...expensive....hard to find...etc.....and I have to add a cooler anyway.....isn't there a cheaper, GENERIC radiator that would fit and work and I could add the cooler/filter circuit completely as a "stand alone" ....separate from the radiator ?????? Just don't want to put too much money into this car considering its "uncertain future".....I'm not in love with it yet.....don't care much for the teal blue color....especially since the clearcoat is rotted in a lot of places. But I AM a serious sports car nut and maybe once I start driving it...I'll fall in love and want to have it painted. Warren C. P.S. I know a little about "fleets" also....currently own four Vanagons (two with Subaru engines), three Subarus, and a Mercedes....and soon to add a truckand trailer...to haul more dead Subaru and Vanagon projects home. There has been talk about getting some other radiators for the SVX, but I don't think there is one that will work at this time. Some have repaired theirs. Do a search on radiators.
Looks like you got instructions on how to get to the lockers as well. If you want to look at other lockers, click on the members tab above the posts, find the name and then go to their locker.
