New Radiator possibility

While at SEMA I may of found a source for radiators
for the SVXs that wont be from the dealer, and with a
lower cost. Possibly made out of all aluminum, but they actually
suggest copper.
If anyone wants to donate and old radiator,
non working that would be cool.
If not, Ill yank one out of my car and send it in for
them to copy.

I have an old one that I can send you, but I need to keep it for a while to use in small claims court against hte dealership.

I'm in need of a new radiator right now, I can't really give you mine but maybe I'll put off getting a new OEM one to see what happens with this... So who is this "source"? Sounds promising so keep us updated.

I *think* my old one is still around, but I'm not sure. I'll try and remember to look in the junkpile out back tomorrow and see if its still there.

If it is, anyone wanna pay shipping? Too bad this came up after I bought a new one...however I will note that all the places I talked to when I was looking to buy a new radiator built out of Al were quoting me $500-ish. I still ponder how hard it would be to retrofit a WRX Al radiator into the SVX since they are approximately the same price range.

The Rex radiator probably doesn't have the automatic transmission cooler built into it. :\

You're most likely right. I haven't looked closely at a Auto WRX but I suspect that Subaru is still using the same tranny cooler method. They used that method in all the Imprezas and Legacys that were available during the same time as the SVX.

I however don't see this as a major problem. Numerous people have installed an aftermarket tranny coolers (though I didn't when I put my new radiator in...of course my SVX sees about 1000 miles a year.) Installing the cooler at the same time as the new radiator seems like a good idea.

That shouldn't be a problem, since most of us have an auxiliary cooling unit anyway. Some install in parallel, some in series and some bypass it altogether. So, if it fits, that could be a good resource. I understand that WRX parts are becoming more plentiful by the week, since some drivers are buying more car than they can handle.

Found it. Its kind of ugly and the top radiator hose neck is disintegrating, but its otherwise intact.

hey, do what you gotta do
this stuff doesnt happen quickly, but in time it does
get done. Eventually all my projects get finished.
Im waiting for a donar radiator at the moment.

Dude, offer still stands...pictures of the radiator are in my locker if you need to see it to see if its intact enough.
