That's the Japanese Climate control. If you notice on the steering wheel, they also do not say Subaru...

Check it out

Are you referring to the digital display?

That was the only format that we got here in Australia so if you are curious about it, I will scan in the Australia manual pages and send them to you.

I have a scan of the JDM manual showing the same feature but only parts of it as of yet....still trying to make more room on Geocities...the scans take up a heap of room!

Did you notice that the speedometer was in mph? Or, at least, I'm assuming that, because it only goes up to 160, just like the US ones.... I think any SVX could easily exceed 160 kph.... And there seems to be a weird gizmo on the passenger's side, to the left of the dashboard... anyone know what that is? maybe cupholders?

Japanese law requires that the speedometer for JDM vehicles must not exceed 180km/h.

The'weird gizmo' on the passengers side is a car navigation system according to the homepage.

Thanks for the info paddles... and I just realized I'm pretty blind, since I thought I saw 160, not 180 there... I feel like an old man already, and I'm not even out of college...
