Important Q: Plastic part(s) fell into the crankcase

Part of my plastic crankcase breather allegedly fell into the hole as we were trying to put it back on after mistakenly thinking it was the PCV valve. What happens now?
Help!

Oh Man! I don't know what to tell you. It probably won't be tough enough to cause a mechanical failure.....but there is a possibility that it could block an oil drainback port.

Try this, go down to the autoparts store and look for a retrieval tool that has three or four fingers that expand when you push the knob. They are spring loaded so that when you release the knob they will grab onto something. Without putting on my shoes to go look, I think that hole is big enough to allow access. If I remember correctly.

When you use the tool, make sure that you drop it straight down the hole. Don't twirl it around like a straw in a milkshake otherwise you might kick it to one side.

The PCV is located under the intake manifold.

Hope this helps.... I will let you know if I get any more brainstorms.

I used a coat hanger and a piece of chewed gum to grab the largest part of it. What is still gone is probably about 10 mm^2 worth of little plastic pieces. My father thought it a good idea to hook up a vacuum cleaner to the crank vent and we did that for a minute or so; heard something small get picked up but we also picked up a lot of oil Hopefully that worked. Will start and see. Thanks for fast response

Great! I thought about the chewing gum and coat hanger, but I was worried that you would get the gum stuck in there as well. Good news!
