Is this a good deal?

I found a '94 Polo Green SVX with 370,000 miles. It is AWD, has a beige leather interior, etc. Currently the radiator has a crack in the top of it (the plastic portion) and may need to be replaced. The seller is asking $750. The tranny shifts smoothly and the engine has no oil leaks (which is remarkable). The owner said there is a "thud" noise from the rear whenever he turns. I have no idea what that is. Do you think this is a good deal?

for $750 I would say it's worth it. Drive it until it dies then part it out.

Hard to go wrong for $750. A new radiator will run about you $350, plus installation. Strictly guessing, the noise from the rear could be differential mounts; do a search to get a feel for the cost, or for other ideas as to what might be the problem.

I wouldent say that there are some really high milles subes out there. The highest one i saw in real life was my dads 90 legacy 350,000 miles, noit as high as the SVX but still up there.

Wow! Sleepem's '92 SVX just went over 300,000 miles a couple months back.

No, that is not a typo. It actually has 370,000 miles... I find the high mileage to be remarkable as well. The original owner was a traveling salesman and he traveled the country with a small trailer attached to the rear. The SVX has gone through 4 different transmissions as well (no surprise there).

Peach: No, it isn't in the Moscow/Pullman area. I found the SVX through some clever internet searching... it's located in Minnesota. I was going to buy it but it sold the same day that the internet advertisement came out. Oh well... the search continues...

used to have a 90 legacy with 370k + miles, the odometer stopped working for a good 6 months and i drove about 500 miles a week. Too bad the body rusted out and wouldn't have been able to pass inspection. If the body was fine the car would have still be running.......
