STi on its way

My latest copy of Autoweek says we will get the WRX STi in 2003 as a 2004 model.
"Redesigned flat-four with 261 hp and 253 lb-ft of torque (227 and 217 for standard WRX) Front and rear limited-slip, six-speed and 17in Brembo brakes.

Start saving those boxtops kiddies! Don

Motertrend had a write up on it about 3 months ago. Their are also rumors that Mitsu is going to release the Lancer EVO here. Both are supposed to be around the 280hp range, 6 spd, and cost about $30,000.

...which pretty well kills the idea that Japan isn't interested in hot coupes anymore!
Let's see....the new "Z" is coming....there are rumors of a US-legal Skyline...Hyundai is stuffing a 6 into the Tiberon...

----------------

....somewhere at Fuji, in a dark backroom, behind some shipping crates...

"Oooooh that looks good! What is that Kindo?"

"My design for new SVX! Of course we leave body to Italians, but look at the goodies!"

"I see....similar to STi but unique aluminum chassis....you been spying on Audi again?"

"Oh no....but a little copy no hurt! Look....H-6 with TWO turbos, shifting paddles behind steering wheel, spoiler raises out of decklid...

"Where have I seen THAT before...?"

".....and look here. Throw switch on dash and ....faster than you can say Sailor Moon, car lifts up 6in on suspension!"

"Look Kindo, we are gonna have tough time selling this to boss anyway....forget about the Hummer switch....."

The Skyline Chassis is coming to the US under the Infiniti nameplate. The 2003 Infiniti G35 will have a 270hp 3.5L rear-drive V6. Going for about $30,000. (Car and Driver October 2001 issue page 68) Put me down for one of those.

prodrive

Now that STi WRX is comming, we have to wait for the ProDrive's P1 WRX -- What more are we waiting for? I know Mitsubishi stopped the production of Mirage for the Lancer and EVO needed the front end tests to pass for safety..

Lwin

According to prodrive, they can drown their version of WRX under water (in a swiming pool) for an hour and the car will start right up again. -- If only I could do that to the SVX

all these high hp cars are great but,

unfortunately they are mostly 4 door?? expcept for the new Z and the RX8 9 which is actually a disguised four door that pretty much functions as a two door all the rest are four door cars. is the new svx going to be 4 door?
