Much better!, Good Work!

Can't believe how clean your car looks underneath! Obviously no winter salted roads driving.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Chased down some wiring issues, fuel pump wouldn't turn on. I have had a bit of trouble with the fuel pump wiring for a while now, first the connector inside the tank to the bottom of the tank cover started to arc and melt away, replaced that connection and then the connector on the outside of the cover started doing the same thing, all on the ground wire, well now the connection under the bottom cushion of the back seat started to do this. crazy.

I think most SVX look the same as yours underneath. I just considered it apart of the factory "rust prevention system" .

Update us if this actually is the source of your leaks as I would rather go this route then find it to be a leaking rear main, etc.

Did an oil change then took it for it's annual "Rust Check" treatment.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Other Subaru:
story begins over a year and a half ago with my BRAT. maybe 2 years ago. Was coming home and it got really noisy. Was the front header gaskets to the manifold.
replaced the gaskets were blown out. that quieted the thing up, but not really much a daily driver, just go down the street and back mostly.
Tried to go out of town again, and couldn't get my speed up. nothing coming out the back muffler for air.
Cut off the muffler. Got some air, drove a little, then nothing again, cut more off. cutt everything off after the y pipe, including resonator. Pretty good for a while, but lots of rattling sounds.
Notice the cat is self destructing and leaving little bits of black charoals on my driveway (heavy platinum chunks)
good, everyting is breathing.

But, the dreaded saga continues.
rock Auto, no muffler. No biggie, I will order the midpipe. Go to rock auto, discontinued.. Go to Ebay with part number. Order the midpipe. Place I ordered from canceled the order, out of stock. Wait for paypal refund. get refund, find another place, order it. they contact me and cancel the order. Wait for paypal refund. Go to Amazon. Order the part. Order canceled.. Then Amaozn has it listed drirectly at Amazon warehouse. Order it, says order will be shipped 2 months out. Wait a month and a half, nothing. So I cancel the order.

Nothing available for the BRAT.
Talk with a buddy, he says put EA82 exhaust on it from a GL wagon 87 ish. Find the muffler on rockauto, walker direct fit 48 bucks. Take my change order it, Find the magnaflow stainless midpipe but not at rock auto, nothing there. Find it at a few places including Summit Racing. order placed.
Thursday FED ex dropped off the muffler (also got a muffler for my RT4wd (only 2 left and soon to be same discontinued scenario)
Got the delivery of the midpipe Saturday.

Put BRAT backend on jakstands. Push the muffler up there. Clears the hitch, clears the bumper, clears the axle and control arm. But the hangers are all WAY OFF. unbolt the stuf of my old midpipe from header. Push the nice stainless magnaflow up there, and botl it up. Bolt the muffler to it at the back. No hangers line up, but she is up there. Going to either hava. hsop reweld new hangers, or use some bailing wire and try myself.

So a EA82 exhaust, can work for a Ea81 brat.....just don't expect perfection.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Been dealing with multiple reroutes of fuel hose around the tank and some creative brake lines....

Dropped some serious $$ to have the tank dropped...

yesterday all lines above it replaced with nickle copper. w00t

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

well just backed out the svx and let it warm up.
Then drained the oil and removed the filter

filled new oil and wix 51334 filter
went to write down in my log.....ooops
I had been running 5w-30 Castrol full synthetic for the last 4 oil changes
My last oil change was on 11-19-2015 also and tht was about 3750 miles back

this time, what I bought by mistake was 10w-30 Castrol Syntec full synthetic. Going into the winter months I hope i will be okay for the very limited few times a month use in it. Damngit.
I like to use the same stuff.

anythoughts?

I doubt there will be any problems. I used to use 10w-30 conventional oil all year long. The only time it would be of concern could be upon start up in really really cold sub freezing temps. Once the engine warms up a bit the viscosity will be fine.

Synthetic works better at cold temps than conventional so that's a plus too.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Just added another to my collection:
got a 91 Sport Sedan 154k one owner then a granddaughter of the family had it, who i purchased from.
Drove it home 390 miles on Wednesday smoked the brakes for the first 10 miles of it, thought i was going to have to make other arrangments and not drive it. She made it home though.
Now I need to get the back window replaced as a start.
