BIG power coming for EG33 fans everywhere

Hey guys,

We have been doing a series of events with EasyStreet Motorsports, they're the ones who have broken 9.5s in the quarter mile with their ESX WRX drag vehicle.

I've just been informed by a member of their team that the Rigolis in Australia are working on a number of EG33 based projects, all targeted in the 1000+hp range.

One of their project motors is a destroked EG33 turning 10,000+rpm out of 3.0L. Another is a bored and stroked EG33 with 3.7L of displacement, and yet another at the 4.2L level.

More details to come.... apparently they're shooting for boost figures on several of these motors in the 30-45psi range.

I'll get you guys information (and pics!) as I receive it. I heard the figure of 12,000 rpm thrown around more than once.

Talking Now you've done it....

Jason,
Don't you know better by now to post rpm and HP figures? Next thing you know Rob will start posting how everything is B.S. and he has the calculations to prove it.

Nope. The biggest thing about NA engines (in the other thread) is that they either need bigger displacement, or really high RPMs. High RPMS makes power...

anyway, are these ACTUAL SVX eg33s?! Or legacy H6s...

well it would appear that they're eg33's

you wouldn't de-stroke a 3.0 to 3.0
and boring the 3.3 to the same diam as the 2.5 gives 3.7

10k rpm is sick

One must bore and stroke the eg33 to 2.5 specs to reach 3.7.

I would like to do it myself.

For me those RPM's and boost levels are nothing unusual...more like NORMAL actually

Check this at my local tuner http://www.mc-xpress.com/records/kri...rjohansson.htm

No way 30+ psi of boost is NORMAL in any case. That is extreme for any engine. Granted there are plenty of SERIOUSLY built engines that will take it... but wow... that is a lot of boost. Even 24+ psi of boost is pretty dang high. I can't imagine that on a bike.

Dude, I'd like to see you ride a bike that is that crazy (like the linked one). Although I would be scared of a misshap, it would be awesome. I have seen Hayabusas boosted in the teens pushing about 500 rwhp that could go from 100 mph to 210 mph in a matter of seconds... but could barely keep the front wheel down! Even the ones that ONLY had 300 rwhp did that! I know I was kind of freaked out when I took my bike up past 130 mph. I didn't even realize I was going THAT fast until I let off THEN looked down at the speedo. Scared me how easily I could have been killed by one little bump in the road (or a squirrel or something)!

That Busa looks INSANE! A car with 685 hp at the wheels is crazy let alone a bike. I would be sooooo afraid to ride that.

Oh yeah, Jason... why do you have to get us all excited about some crazy EG33 developements, huh? I wanna know if this will fit and work in an SVX, also (without $10,000 worth of other modifications). Sounds incredible, though!

If I had the money, I would totally LOVE a 1000+ hp SVX, and try to build it!!!

There's no way anyone would spend that much money to power up an EJ33 and keep it in an SVX... I mean, if he LOVED the SVX like we do... but just looking at all the other Scooby's they've done... oh, I hope it stayed in the car.

It will be going into an older Impreza chassis.

By the way, we have the ESX drag car at the shop right now. Big event on Thursday evening for any of you in the Atlanta area! We'll be cooking out and running the car on the dyno.

We're expecting in excess of 550hp at the wheels WITHOUT nitrous.... they do a 200 shot of nitrous on top of that.

It's a bored, stroked 2.2 block @ 2.4L of displacement and they're turning in excess of 40psi into it.

The turbo is bigger than my head.... it's just SICK.

Check this out...

Check out the engine pic, the intercooler is air/water and is in the glovebox.

But of course, the glovebox, EVERYBODY should have a intercooler in there

(I use to call the watercooled ones "chargecooler's", I don't know why, probably because someone once did ... , and if I remember correctly SETRAB oilcooler's in Sweden sold them under that name *yes I have used them MANY times, cute little things, SUPER in streetrac....eeehh...RACING...*)

And YES Pure_Insanity8, even beyond 300km/h (close to 200mph) the frontwheel WOULD NOT stay down if you "floor" it

Note: They are using a hybrid SVX automatic gearbox with 4.11 final drive.

Last year I they were using a WRX automatic from '95 and couldn't get enough top end and I suggested they switch to the SVX final drive... which they did and turned a 9.6.

This year they decided to go the other way... longer gearing in the box (stock SVX stuff slightly tweaked) and 4.11 at the diffs. It's a monster, let me tell you.

and yea, that car is cool, you know the figures that they had in a recent article, of the total to build the car(WRX) 80k+.

I guess on this case: money=power

I also know that the Rigolis built a Liberty(US turbo Legacy) that ran in the 11's and its a daily driver, but in AU not here.
