anyone passing through chicago?

Any one of you boys and girls passing through Chicago to Rockford?
As I have posted earlier, I am having my tranny replaced but the warranty people needs to have my info again as they have lost it. So I have to wait for another week and half to get that fixed. My car is back in the garage. I hope to get that fixed but I assume it will not be fixed before the meet
I'd love to meet all cars so if anyone can do it, I'd appreciated if one of you guys coming through Chicago can pick me up on the way there.
Thanks

Lwin
ps. you will get to see my non moving svx

Yeah, you'll need to be there to see my new mod . . . a crumpled left front fender . . . . AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!

Happened at lunch today. Somebody in a Ford Expedition who was sitting too high above the rest of the world to "see" me (alls he had to do was look out his driver's side door. I was sitting totally still. Luckily, he wasn't trying to pull out aggressively. He just sort of slowly pushed the fender in. He stepped out of the car and said "sorry, I just didn't see you." Then turned to his Expedition, wiped the white paint off his bumper with his thumb and said, "doesn't look like mine was damaged." As if he thought I'd really give a "Sh!t." He admitted fault, the wrangling with the insurance company has begun.

I don't anticipate a huge problem. I just hate to think of the inconvenience, not to mention putting my "obsession" (which I informed the guy who crunched me that the car was my obsession) in the hands of strangers. I don't just want it "done" I want it done right. I don't want things pulled and filled, I want a new fender and I want the color to match EXACTLY. We'll see what happens. Thank you for for expressing concern.

holy $hit!!

jesus aredub i am sorry to hear about the a-hole in the expedition hitting the SVX. i really do hope it is not too much of a hassle to get it fixed. so i guess this means you will not be making the MWM? damn i really going to miss not having you. wait is it still driveable? maybe you could still come? i know the biggest concern is getting it fixed and getting fixed right so enough about the meet. if you can come great, if not i will catch you in KY or IN, whichever comes first!

I know how you must have felt. I got the same story about 2 years ago with a 18 wheeler. She hit me 2 times in my little 1990 prelude and then came down and said, opps, i just hit you? I *****ed at the insurance since I just got new rims and the truck too my back and quarter panels out and bent the back rims.

I got a new car. But with the svx, i'd assume they might not do that. Anyways, good luck my friend.

I'll be there with the eclips if my svx is not ready yet.

I'll be there. I'm not gonna let a little thing like a dented fender keep me from this meet. Broken trannies didn't do it (TWICE!), so, I'll be there. She won't look as pretty as she did when you saw her, Leo, but, I'll be there. I was very surprised at my reaction. I did not immediately leap out of the car and pummel the guy. Since he was so apologetic and immediately admitted fault. It was a stupid mistake, but, we've all made 'em. He's made his for the month. I just happened to be the beneficiary. I may need some of that 100 MPH tape to keep my side garnish from flapping, but, I'm not gonna miss it. See ya'll there.

For me, it's been the contrary. The first meet went very smoothly. The rest were iffy:

April 2000 -- Reading -- No Problems

Sept 2000 -- Vermont -- Tranny had gone out. Finally fixed the day I was to leave for meet. Picked up car, picked up wife, headed for VT. Went through 13 states, logged almost 4K miles. Wrapped up in . . .

Oct 2000 -- Snowshoe I -- A perfect capper to the VT meet.

April 2001 -- Reading II -- Had trouble with newly rebuilt tranny. Picked up car (after 24 days in shop) the day I was supposed to leave for meet. Left the tranny shop, picked up son, headed for PA.

May 2001 -- Smokies Meet -- No problems.

June 2001 -- Rockford Meet -- will arrive with crunched fender.

Maybe I should give up this "meet" thing. NOT! See you in Rockford!

2 words!

Duct Tape!

If only I can do that to trannies, I'd be rich - and happy

Geezz!! I stay away for a month or so and look what happens - a Midwest meet gets organized in Rockford, only 45 minutes from home.
But the bummer of it is that I probably will not make it
I'm off to NV tomorrow on business and probably will not get back until Saturday early afternoon.
Keep posting the plans though just in case something changes and I can make it for at least part of the day, maybe Sat night or Sun morning if anyone's staying over.
I can read posts while I'm away but for some unknown reason I cant send a post from my laptop - keep getting a "not enough memory" message.
