And, Don. I talked with Maria today - her car died, but there may be hope. But right now, it remains in Philly with a broken power steering pump and an overheating problem that seems to have corrected itself but could have damaged the motor. But that said, Maria may still come, regardless of how the car is fairing.

Now just where is Earl the Pearl??

Harry,
Are you talking about the Maxima or the SVX? I had actually been in contact with her about the possibility of buying her SVX, but, got sidetracked by hopes of flying to El Pasa, TX to pick up a 94 w/58K miles (prob'ly ain't gonna happen). Ah, heck. I'll e-mail her and see what's goin' on. Now that this is turning out to be a "big" meet, I sure hope nothing happens to deter me from coming (you's guys know my record for 'troubles' when the "BIG" meets come around).

Canaan Valley is the choice my man. Blackwater Falls is so close, that it is being thrown in as a sidetrip to Canaan. It is just a bit easier for our "western" members to get to than Harpers Ferry. U.S. Route 50 west from I-81 gets you very close. Looking forward to meeting y'all!!! Don

Don,

Rosie and I have decided not to come. It is about a 7 1/2 hr. drive. and just too much for us for a weekend.
Sorry.

Canaan Valley would be cool. Wherever it is, I plan to be there.

Long way home

<It is about a 7 1/2 hour drive>

Larry,
Perhaps with Beltway traffic, but the nice computers at MapBlast say it is 3 hours less than that: 4 hours 35 min....275 miles. Canaan is near Davis, WV...but there are TWO towns by that name. You want the one in Tucker County. The other one WOULD be about 7 or 8 hours from you.

Hey Larry, if you can sneak out of the grasp of DuPont early, you're certainly welcome to spend a night at my place (Thursday night?). I'm close to I-695 (Balto. beltway) & I-70 west. It'll give me an excuse to vacuum the house. Ron.

Duke of Earl

I made phone contact with Earl (Molar Marauder) tonight. He has been extremely busy this summer. He had thought that our meet was a week earlier than planned, which would have run into a dental convention, but he thinks he is OK for the 19th/20th. He will check with Yvonne and see if there is a problem that he hadn't though of...but other than that, we can pencil him in! That would complete the Snowshoe circle! I will be calling tomorrow to secure some discount rates and hold about 15 rooms. I will keep everyone informed. Don

This was probably one of her worst nightmares, and I suppose it was the SVX. Very disappointing to hear.

Don,
Thanks for the heads up on the driving time. Yahoo strikes again.
Please e-mail me some info on the rooms. I'll talk to the BN tonight and convince her that we should go to this meet. I'll post tomorrow.
Thanks again.

I haven't talked to her in a while but, judging by the nature of the problems NewSVX listed (overheating engine, dead power steering pump), I would say the SVX died. Those were problems that plagued her SVX for quite some time (the overheating anyway). The only problem she had with her Maxima was the brake rotors always warping on her.

Sorry I wasn't clear about Maria's car - it was the SVX that died. BTW, I would never talk about a Maxima on the SVX web site .

Seriously, as would be expected, Maria is really bummed about the SVX. But hopefully she'll be at the Snowshoe meet. Perhaps even driving Snoopy.

SVXIT!
so glad you are planning to go. BTW, I have hardcopy of some autocross pictures for you - I think I e-mailed them to you a while back. BTW too, the next autocross is 26 Aug.

SVXXX26,
Congrats re finding Earl the Pearl! I thought we had lost him! Now let's get him on this web site so he can explain himself.

Earl???????

Randy,
Sorry, I didn't see your post before. Obviously you saw my post just a bit ago. Yep, it was the SVX that died on Maria. Overheating and the powersteering pump, as I understand it.

I sure hope your and your better half can make the meet. I am hoping that Ruth will be with me this time. I really think she would enjoy meeting Shari and the other Snowshoe ladies. And I might get my youngest son with the '94 FWD SVX there too. This could be really cool.

Olu,
Why don't we at least meet up and convoy to the west?

Later,
Harry
