design change of catalytic converter --> how many gaskets do I need?
Hi All,
I recently equipped my SVX with a new exhaust system from subaruparts.com. The old catalytic converter had three gaskets between its input and the front pipes. The new converter has a different input shape, only one of the gaskets (big one with two holes) does fit. Also the bolt openings to attach the front pipes are of a smaler diameter, so different bolts (without the springs) must be used. Question: Do I only need one gasket with this new converter or still 3 but the two on the front pipes need to have a different shape/outer diameter than the previous ones? PS: Please see the picture of converter and gaskets attached |

You definitely need the 2 round gaskets. Not sure about the last one. I don't remember seeing that one on my SVX.

marcus, i had the same problem with the bolts too. I ordered them and they didn't fit so what i ended up doing is getting new bolts, nuts, and washers (loews) which fit and allowed me to use the springs...i originally thought they sent me the wrong bolts, but if they did it to you too perhaps they did have a design change...
