Silly Question- Beeping noise in car

My son and his girlfriend both insist there is a faint beep beep beep that seems to be in sync with the : in the clock. The : keeps blinking, and the beep keeps beeping. Silly question, but its driving them nuts. (My hearing is shot after many rock concerts in my youth, so I only hear it occassionally

)

So what is it and how do I/they stop it?
