Red face Silly Question- Beeping noise in car

My son and his girlfriend both insist there is a faint beep beep beep that seems to be in sync with the : in the clock. The : keeps blinking, and the beep keeps beeping. Silly question, but its driving them nuts. (My hearing is shot after many rock concerts in my youth, so I only hear it occassionally)

So what is it and how do I/they stop it?

Cyn

Seat belts do that when you lean forward too much. My kids set them off all the time. Maybe they are detecting wrong?????

really, mine don't do that at all... Someone did swap the stock alarm unit for an aftermarket remote though, is it part of that?

We recently noticed that in Melis's car. Haven't really looked around to see what it is yet though???

Weird. I've never heard any beep in my car and I lean in all kinds of directions. Maybe the "door open while keys in ignition" signal is shorting?

Re: Silly Question- Beeping noise in car

There is actually a wire hooked up to the back of the ignition that beeps when the key is in and the doors are open. All you need to do is cut the wire, I did it a while ago but cannot remember which one it was.

Stock stuff. I get it when someone falls asleep in the front seat, leans forward while moving, or they reach into the back from there.
I get the corresponding light on the Instrument Panel, to tell me a seat belt is not on right. It's a bit louder than what is described here though.

Re: Silly Question- Beeping noise in car

I have a sound. It's very faint...is more so down near the brake pedal area. It's like little people are sending morse code through my dash. With the stereo off and just sitting at idle I hear it, otherwise you would never know. I believe TomsSVX heard it when he was tinkering in Peej's goodies.
No clue what it is.

Re: Silly Question- Beeping noise in car

Yes it is VERY faint. Not the seat belt alert or the key in ignition chime.

This one is coming from the dash, and I rarely hear it...always have the window down, music on, etc. My son & girlfriend hear it well...young ears...and actually have tried to source it, as it drives them nuts! (What are they doing in my car that they are so quiet they can hear it, I wonder?)

My clock's always flashing, or at least the : ( as in 8:20 ) is. The beep seems to sync up with it. Do all your clocks flash too?
