Yes, I understand it seems counter-intuitive.

All I can tell you is this.... what's good for a Miata is not necessarily what's good for a Subaru.

A Subaru chassis is NOT a traditional handling balance vehicle. It performs best through application of traction, not through management of lateral grip.

There are a lot of counterintuitive setup issues with transitional handling on Subaru AWD vehicles... just kind of a weird fact of life.

Very simply speaking, a Subaru acts like a FWD (a la VW) under braking, and like a RWD (a la BMW) under acceleration. I mean this in terms of both handling balance and chassis behavior.
