Thumbs up I Made It!!!

HI! I FINALLY got my SVX!!! MY son ( with my help $$$) got his in September. I never had anything but station wagons and mini vans. My husband always got the "performance" cars, while I got stuck with the "practical family car". UNFAIR!! But after driving the SVX I was HOOKED!! My son got upset that I was "borrowing" his all the time and came here to the forum to beg for help. link to thread
Well, 3 months later my red '97 SVX is home safe in my garage!
My question now is this: I really want to protect her and keep her in the nearly showroom condition she is in. So... where can I find the transparent 'bra' I've heard about? I don't want all the nicks my son has on his, but I also don't want the 'rub' marks a regular bra makes. I've heard there is a clear plastic film of some sort. Has anyone seen this or know where I can get it??

I still have a full roll that I am not using. You can have it if you want. I am in Arlington Heights (53 & Lake Cook). And welcome to the network.

Door dings

Welcome to the Network Deb.

Seems like the girls are taking over Chicago.

I'm a child of the sixties, so I don't like bras. One bit of advice for keeping your car pristine though. Don't take it to shopping malls. I have my car over two years, and the most significant damage it has suffered has been at the hands of careless shoppers. Most of the parking bays we have are way too narrow for cars with small doors, never mind big wide doors like the SVX has.

Other shoppers keep hitting the sides with their doors, and SUV drivers are by far the worst, they behave as if they are driving a tank, and everyone else has to watch out.

Park as far away from the entrance as you can. Put one side to a hedge or wall if possible, that way you are halving the possibility of dings.

Joe

Welcome to the Network, Deb!!
It's great to see yet another woman joining the ranks.
We are still desperately out-numbered however......

Did you try it and not like it? How does it work? How long does it take to put on?

My baby only has 45K Unfortunately, it is my everyday car and I have to drive about 50 miles round trip to work, so the miles are going to start piling up. I put over 800m on my son's car in the three weeks I drove it!

I did not get the clear piece for the bra purpose. I got it as the headlight protection soultion. Did not work too well for headlight but should be great for bra purpose. It should not take long to put it on. I already have too many chips so I need a repaint before putting anything like that on....

Welcome, congratulations and best of luck with your SVX!

After I bought my SVX, and my mom came to visit me in VT, she decided that she had to have one. Like you, she wanted a red one. No reds around, but we found a '92 black over claret and she loves the car to death.

Hi Lwin,
Everything's fine with me and my SVX. Thanks for asking...I've been hybernating . But I have been visiting here everyday, though not logging on most of the time.

P.S. I received my Alcyone emblem 2 weeks ago. Thanks a lot. I still havent put it on yet.

My method to prevent stone chips is to not follow ANYTHING too close...especially trucks!

As for hood bras I would never use one on a recently painted hood. I did that on my Justy and it scratched. I would give paint about 6 months before using a bra.
