orange foam cleaners

I think these are great and gentle enough to do my once smoke contaminated interior...

I can't wait to do the headliner and carpets....

As an aside, it does a bonus job on toilets too: home type job for those of you who don't recognize the task!!!!

mine were grungy, so i used some paint polish compound (or a glaze would work), followed by a good coat of wax. there's a pic in my locker of what a nice clean wheel should look like.
Thank you, Alan. My thoughts exactly. There is of course a difference between the stock wheels and most aftermarket rims so it's just a matter of sorting all this info out!

After over 10 years, my center caps were already faded and the clear coat on the wheels was getting there too, so I had little to lose. I have not found that the cleaner I use causes any more fading than regular soap and water, but I've only been using it for two years.

i was mainly referring to those "spray-on, hose-off, cleans aluminum, mag, chrome, any type" of wheel cleaners. if they are powerful enough to eat through baked on brake dust, i'm sure they can do a number on your clearcoat. there are probably some that are mild enough, but i couldn't really tell you which ones.

I also use A2Z on my wheels but notice that any of that stuff on the brake rotors and it seems to oxidize almost immediately!

Definately something you want to do at a car wash or else have a hose ready to rinse the stuff off. (or go for a quick drive afterwards)
