Significant Technical Input
SVX Repairs/Maintenance

Maybe this is redundant but after so many good suggestions I thought I might try to help out. This may also help those considering purchasing what to plan for in the future.

I'm guessing O2's are listed under "other sensors." I haven't actually replaced them, yet, but I have them. Waiting for weather conducive to outdoor 'shadetree mechanicin'' to do the deed.

Transmission (after 100k), alternator and FL axle after 133k. That's why I praise this car's reliability.

pretty good idea with the poll.. unfortunately i have no idea what was done to the car BEFORE i owned it.. the only thing that showed up on Subaru Star's computers was a replaced tranny at 34k. But I've had my share of little problems. Nothing terribly serious yet.. (knocks furiously on pressboard desk)

Front axles, Transfer valve, Rear tran mount, struts, O2's, TPS and one engine but it wasn't the engine's fault.

I only had room for 25 categories. Sorry.

It's difficult to wear out a car there, isn't it?

for me:

3 transmissions, both rear bearings 3 times, alternator, transfer clutches, and knock sensors.

Furiously knocking on wood.!!!!!

Beav, good poll. Some of the categories will probably have low failure rate. One or two others should have been in there. I mean the likes of droopy visors, and possibly automatic seat belt malfunctions.

However, these could be looked at with another poll. Is there any way to leave URLs to these polls in the FAQ section as an aid to new or aspiring owners?

Joe

I'm now knocking my head against my wood door. 138k of noiseless rear bearings. I'm afraid. VERY AFRAID!
