Hey Steve

I think the auto will be better suited to the turbos. Allows you to keep boost since you don't have to let off gas to shift.

Todd

BTW- I have the rear end and I'm getting the trans soon.

5 speed trans conversion

I guess we all have reasons....

1) I already have a project: converting my 5 VR4 (380hp) to 6 speed

2) My SVX is a year round commuter and with lots of city miles, I love the automatic...I REALLY LOVE THE 4eat!!!!!

3) While the SVX is a performance/luxury car, I can't understand autocrossing it, drag racing it, twin turboing it etcetera. The net seems to be a badly worn transmission, brakes et al. It just wasn't meant for that sruff and the wear/breakages seem to back that up (sorry) but bottom line, its your $$$

4) After reading hundreds of threads, I seem to see lots of folks who were able to buy a very sophisticated car for low $$$ and don't seem to have the money to do any/all the upgrades including wheels/tires and the 5 speed and also the necessary routine maintenance either: I am sure this offends some of you but you should read the many replies I got for my transmission package and wheels and tires that I have for sale: : cheap, cheap, cheap

Anyway, upgrade and modify to your hearts content; its still great fun

Hotshoe!!!

Basically I have 3 reasons
1) I'm too lazy to install a 5-speed & I think it should be $3000-$3300 not $4000.
2) Rosie can't drive a stick and all our cars MUST be drivable by both.
3) I'd really like an Auto-Stick. Does Chrysler use it as an option on the AWD Voyager or T&C?

I originally bought the SVX because I was going to spend a couple of hours a day commuting at 5 MPH (so the auto was practical). Now that that hasn't happened I'm just waiting for the first yahoo in an STi to ball it up, SIX Speed, here I come!

5 speeds

Send me your trannies!!! You're killing virtually all classic value of these modified cars! Take a look at a Triumph Stag which had eng issues and was commonly converted to a Chevy V8. Value for a non mod. car is 10-15k plus depending on condition. Value for a Chevy V8 car is well maybe 4k. Same thing with TR7s which had V8 conversions done. I totally understand the desire to do the conversion but just keep this in mind before the butchering begins and keep in mind I'll adopt all the wayward slushboxes. That way in 20 years I can buy back all the moded cars and convert them back to autos.

My old autobox is going in the basement with all my other stock parts. That way when I grow out of my mod phase I can restore everything.
