Re: Noisy, squeeky belt when not warmed up.
It may just need to be tightened. Does the belt look cracked or shiny and glazed from slipping? If so it should be replaced.

Re: Noisy, squeeky belt when not warmed up.
I literally just fixed this exact problem on my car today. My belts were just a little too loose. I read in a some thread here that being able to give them 1/4 of a turn is about the right tension.
In my case, the belts were brand new, and I think they may have just stretched out and broken in a little bit. Anyways, hopefully, the answer will be that simple for you! There is a good how-to in the Alternator section that illustrates where the bolt is you need to tighten. Good luck!

Agreed.... inspect then tighten that belt up. It takes maybe 5 minutes and will be maybe the easiest thing you ever do under the hood of an SVX

Re: Noisy, squeeky belt when not warmed up.
I have the same problem, but I seem to be missing that bolt. Does anyone know which part # it is?

Re: Noisy, squeeky belt when not warmed up.
Thanks! I'm finding that the previous owner had a couple of strangely missing parts (engine covers, of course).

Re: Noisy, squeeky belt when not warmed up.
So wait its the long tensioner bolt that pulls the pully assy up?? (Cant open your adobe pif, my comp is being a jerk) Yeah the absence of engine covers can also be attributed to lazy or senile mechanics, I remember when I managed a shop in north tahoe my techs had built up a nice collection of audi and mercedes splash guards from various oil changes
