Re: Climate control blows hot air while driving, cold when stopped.

I'm having this issue, sporadically, as well. I just noticed this evening that I did overheat it. I was driving fast for around 10 minutes on the expressway.

I'll keep an eye on this thread and post any of my findings. I have a new spare radiator so it will be easy to swap it in to determine whether it's a blocked passage.

Still, I'm leaning toward a failing water pump for me. Especially given that temps got a little warm last night. Good luck with your search.

Re: Climate control blows hot air while driving, cold when stopped.

I bled the **** out of the coolant system and got a good bit of air (and accumulated crud) out. Things are working better although still not perfect. After 20 minutes or so of driving the heat out of the floor vents is actually so hot that I have to switch to full defrost to not boil my feet. It is kid of bizarre though, it's almost like my cabin heat is dependent on tranny fluid temp instead of coolant, as good heat and full TC lock occur at similar times. Not possible, I know, but an odd coincidence.

As a sidenote: 200,000 KM!!!

Re: Climate control blows hot air while driving, cold when stopped.

Replaced the Water pump. Car is running cool as a cucumber, especially when running hard....90mph plus. Hot air now blows at idle. Mine was a failing pump. Must have been a bad bearing in the pump but you could'nt tell from looking at it or spinning the pump...Got it at advance suto parts for around $40.
