engine strength
Ok well i was j/w what are the weak links in the svx engine? Im thinking about making my own turbo set up and im wondering how much boost i can shoot for without running up the bill too terribly high....any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated?

intercooled with good EM you can run about 10 psi without too much worrying too much.. weak points are listed in order
1. piston ring lands 2. Rod bolts 3. rods 4. Head bolts Thats about it... the engine is of a great design minus the scissor cam gear design which is foolish for making power. Tom |

Why is that, Tom? I've never seen a cam gear set up like this, but I'd like to understand why.

my goal is to try to get about 300 or a little more reliable horsepower.

you forgot main bearings (?)...or should it just be the clearance that the factory would like them set up to? -Bill p.s. how about head gaskets?

well im wondering if you guys have any ideas to acheive that kinda horsepower and the problems i face ...i wanna go the turbo route but its not set in stone

well you can do three things.
1. Nitrous -cheapest and easiest 2. StageIII supercharger 3. Custom FI system My stage III is for sale right now, and as far as I know, the only one available anywhere Tom |

now ive also considered a twin turbo set up but it sounds to me like a whole hairy ordeal if i were to try a small turbo and a big turbo would i need custom ecu tuning

you are going to need tuning regardless. To imagine that one chips works for all SVXi with different kinds of FI is silly

ecutune offers a Maf sensor and fuel system that can handle 500hp am i gravely mistaken in thinking it would work for most aplications if you had manual boost blow off valves....im new to all of this and if im wrong feel free to send me in the right direction im just trying to learn

understood, but the ECUtune software might allow you to run a turbo or supercharger but it is by no means tuning. All that software is made doing road tests and has customer dyno charts. No dyno tuning which is where tuning needs to be done to get the most out of it. MUCH better off with a standalone and having it tuned by a professional. Those are my plans once I can sell my supercharger kit

how much would professional tunning run? ...if i had a unlimited budget i would send it off and let people that know a lot more about what they are doing than me but being a sixteen year old born to a middle class family no such luck in sight so im trying to meet my goal as cheaply as possible without compromising too much
