MAF wire mod
Guys if you find you self stuck in a desert with broken wires on the MAF plug here is the perfect fix. All you need if a couple of safety pins and some scotch tape and the problem is solved.

1995 - SVX 700,000 K Mine, DMS Struts to lift car 2in. Tyres Wrangler Silent Armor 235/70R16, PBR Radiator. 6 speed with DCCD and R180 rer diff, Heavy duty top strut mounts front and rear. Speedo correction box fitted. New stero (gave up on the old one). Back seat removed and 2 spare tyres fitted for desert driving. ECUTune SC sitting in the box for the next SVX. 1992 - SVX 255 K Wife (Want to stay Married so not allowed to fit SC) 1992 - SVX Pearl with black roof race car roll cauge etc ready to race. Ex Tasman Targa car. 1995 - SVX Green low k mint condiation. 1995 - SVX Rally car, ex Matts car. Now to be used on track. 1992 - SVX red & Black being converted to Mid Engine. 1995 - SVX Red 143,000 bit rough. Owned 5 others Subaru back to a 1974 1400 GSR. |

Good number 8 wire stuff. I trust no one was left with their nickers in a twist.
This should be in the technical section as it is a fix for any plug/socket connector problem. Pins, nails, hairclips, the list goes on and having the most likely donor on hand, will ice the cake.

I've used a dinner knife to replace a fuse that kept blowing... the ignition fuse.
took me a long while to find a previous owners messed up modification that left a loose wire that would swing around in the enginebay shorting on occasion. BTW dinnerknife fuses are good for some fairly epic lightshows at times so I only reccomend it if the alternative is worse. |

Used cirigrette paper as a fuse on a Black & White TV years ago. It fixed it permently, smoked up the house pretty bad.

well thats the nice thing about a dinner knife, it stuck far enough out that the one time the intermittant short (once a week for 1sec or less) became a hard short I just kicked the knife out...
Still in all I recomend for smarter people than I was then to only use such methods to get your car out of heavy traffic or the like and not for er... driving around town.. |

not really been around much. Thinking about playing with the SVX I got for a winterbeater a few years back now... so getting back into it. Too long with the WRX/STi crowd. |
