I have the Japanese owners manual. It's a lovely book, with lots of nice pictures, but I can't read Japanese. Actually I was thinking some time ago to scan some of the pages and post a caption competition!

I like the "diff lock" light the best. Our first transmission was replaced by a Subaru main dealer. They phoned me up to say that there was a problem. The new transmission was binding up and there was some red japanese writing lit up on the dash. They said it was problably something seriously wrong. I told them to take the diff lock fuse out and try again!

Well these are the kind of things we need to know and add to the knowledge base, if a new owner is not to be panicked by red "Japanese writing"

The only dash light you really have to worry about is the one with red flames or smoke coming from the car.
