Code #28
Hey guys got this code yesterday after driving around with it forever... Finally figured out how to run the self diagnostic, and got this. This code appears to be the LH side knock sensor, which i'm assuming is located on the passenger side of the engine block somewhere.... Anyone have a pic of where this may be located at so I can remove it and replace it?
Thanks in advance...

Okie dokie... As an update, after cruising threw SEVERAL threads on 'knock sensor' I was able to determine this is a fairly common problem which is good. Now thanks to Mr Immortal I have a pic saved on my comp as to the location of the little bugger. 39.99 later, I have the part on order from autozone. Can someone please tell me if LH knock sensor means LH as if you are sitting in the car, or looking at the engine standing in front of it. Also, I read that it's a good idea to remove the intake manifold and do some cleaning and hose-replacing which I definitely would be down to do, but could someone tell me that for a guy that's never done it before how long approximately it would take, how many/what type of parts should I be ready to replace, and if I need to mark any hoses, wires, or locations of things.
Thanks guys I just don't want to get in over my head. It would definitely do the car some good as she's approaching 114K. -Daniel

There are many vacuum lines and hoses under the intake manifold, and it is not that easy to remove and reinstall. The rear anti-nock sensor is on the drivers side as the link shows. A pair of hemostats, a good light, and an extra pair of hands is helpful. If you remove the alternator you can reach the IRIS check valve and hoses. http://www.subaru-svx.net/photos/use...svxfiles|24710

Here is a link to the replacement hose parts under the manifold. It's a MS Word doc.

hemostats are the steel clamps that surgeons use.
