Talking Help...

On the SVX I just bought the headlights are the faded yellow color. Can anyone help me trying something to brighten these up? I am guessing this is the wrong place to post but i dont know anyone else on any other sites.

What I've been using is a fine scratch remover rubbed in with my fingers and buffed off with a towel. Brand isn't specific but I used Eagle One.

For future reference please try to be more specific with your thread titles. Thanks.

600 grit sandpaper, then 1000 grit, then 1500 grit, then Maguires Plastic Polish and they look good as new. I made a thread about it here once.

Edit: Here is the link to my thread: http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=26544

Edit2: Why is this in the Cars for Sale forum?

I found out by accident that if you use RainX on your headlights that it will take all of the yellow off of them without having to do a lot of polishing. Try it and see if it helps. I have used the Eagle One fine scratch remover before and it has been great. I now use the RainX.

Mother's Mag and Aluminim polish will work better than anything. It'll remove the yellow with very little efffort.

Earl and RainX

Earl, how long have you known about RainX for headlights?
I cleaned mine this weekend with Windex then scrubbed the plastic with a cloth liberally dosed with RainX, followed by a light buffing. The RainX soaked cloth turned yellow and the lights ended up clear.
Great tip! Thanks.

OK I tried both things and I think I like the polish the best, it seemed to make the yellow fade more. They still arent what I want them to be but Im going to keep working on them! Audrey
