Smoking....

I just got my SVX back today from shop.. Noticed the smoke coming from engine! Well, I have had same issue with my old SVX, but this time again?? I guess, and I hope this is from the left over oil getting burned. The power steering hose leak just got fixed today but still I can see left over oils in the engine bay. I will wipe and clean tomorrow. Do you guys know any good way to wipe/clean out those oils on the engine block or in the engine bay?

One more thing... when engine is running in idle can you hear ticking? Seems like this is related to rpm, when rev up you can't hear that much. Maybe valves? I don't know what is causing the ticking noise..so I will ask my mechanic friend to come over and check, and see what he wuold say...

The smoke is most likely from an assumed oil change where they spilled some. Does your engine tick while warm? If it's only at first startup it's because oil in the pan hasn't reached the heads yet, a good reason to let the car warm up a little before driving.

1. Go to car wash
2. Deposit said money
3. LEAVE CAR RUNNING
4. Use $2.00 degreaser
5. Hose the crap out of the engine bay paying attention to electrical areas and MOVE if the engine rpms take a dive!

Then if it still is smoking from the engine bay ask away! Best of luck!

If it is a very quiet ticking that gets drowned out as the engine revs higher I'd say that is the normal fuel injector noise.

as far as the leaks/ smoking - benebob has the right idea. Find out where it is coming from and go from there.
