Power Steering Pump
My power steering ran dry today. I filled it again and ran car to warm fluid to check the level. When I stopped the engine the oil pushed out under the cap and flowed down over the pump and everything else. Looks like air in the system . Whats going on and how do I fix this?

You will need to get the air out of the system. Look in the How To Docs under steering and there is a how to on flushing the system. You can bleed the air the same way. Good luck.

I think your biggest issue (if the pump isn't now toast) would be to correct what caused the reservoir to "run dry."
When you refilled, did you use the dipstick? I've refilled mine by eyeballing it. One trip, big mess. My mechanic has made the same mistake. FULL on the dipstick is actually pretty low within the fiiller neck. dcb Last edited by dcarrb; 05-08-2006 at 06:38 AM. |
