Info on sound of Knock Sensor (link)

I found this link which is very interesting.

http://users.wpi.edu/~mark944/nested...knockstuff.htm

This has a MP3 of a knock sensor signal.

Bosch Knock Sensor vs OEM.

Anyone have any experince with a Bosch knock sensor. I need to replace mine and was quoted $167 CDN per sensor at local dealership. I have found a source online in Canada for a Bosch Sensor for the SVX at $58!!!

I've been experiencing a maddening engine shudder for the past several weeks, and finally the car threw a CE that my Knock Sensor 2 was bad. So decided to change it, Knock Sensor 1, the fuel filter, and the PCV valve. I removed the alternator, and went to work. It was fairly easy to replace the PCV valve, and fuel filter, but the Knock Sensor 1 was a bear, and knock Sensor 2 was IMPOSSIBLE to reach...even when I tried to move the AC pump out of the way. For the life of me, I can't figure out how anyone has hands small enough to reach in there from the front. So I guess I've got to remove the intake collector, huh?

And by the way, I got all my parts from the Subaru dealer, and the knock sensors were $48 apiece.

Maybe since I have to remove the collector anyhow, I'll install phenolic resin spacers from Outlaw Engineering while I'm at it. Now if I could just figure out what's making my engine stumble...

It can be done without doing this but you need someone with small hands or at least a second person to hold the bolt in place while you attempt to start it on the threads.
