I'm now SVX-less

daluvabull bought my SVX - glad it went to someone on the forum - as it turns out while I was delivering the car to him another potential buyer (off forum) came in at a higher price, but we had already made the deal...

FYI for those who don't know him - Jeff is a very nice guy and probably more trusting than I am. I gave him a good price, but on the other hand the small water hose under the intake - driver's side - ruptured as I was on the way to the airport to show him the car. I stopped at an Autozone and got a new piece of hose & clamps and put back in some anti-freeze & water, but since it was hot couldn't purge air, etc. He trusted me to not be jerking him around with some other water issue - that's a rare guy - he has my sincerest hope that the car performs flawlessly for many miles.

Best of luck Jeff.

So, I'm now officially SVX-less. Will start looking for the right SVX project car as soon as the house repairs get finished (hopefully about two months). Has to be silver, has to have a good body. The rest doesn't matter too much as I intend to strip the engine down, rebuild add 5/6 speed, new upholstery etc., etc.

Good luck with the road ahead Lee... A silver 5/6 speed SVX with a freshened engine is going to be one sweet ride!

Well, the best of luck to you too, Lee. You deserve a good one.

Has to be silver? I expect you mean the late model bright silver one. Nice cars. Good body yes. But good general condition also. Buy one that has been cared for. The engine bit is easy, in a way, if all the rest is good.

Looking forward to your project.

Joe

Ever think of stroking it, if you are rebuilding??

Quick rebuttal

OK, that last bit is open to misinterpretation.

What I meant was....

Heck, Lee knows what I meant. Rest of youse keep quiet now.

I think I might

I want the silver so all the hidden bits are the correct color. I've found a guy (he works for me actually) who does Corvette restoration as a hobby - has his own paint booth and vehicle hoist in a 2K squre foot garage at his house. He has the skills to do custom/concour level painting. He has promised to show me how to do things like fading from one color to another, etc. One thing we have talked about was a mod to the trunk (boot) lid to have the surface flow down and the rear of the stock top be a built in spoiler - the lower spoiler air exit being under the center brake light (not sure how better to explain).

Just stay away from anymore 'caines, Lee. Silver deserves a nice garage with a roof on it.

Best wishes with the project.

Ron.

I'll second Ron's emotion

Get that house back to battle-ready condition as soon as possible. It looks like Emily is heading for Texas, but the way things are going the next one will be right behind it.

Shame you don't want a black car, I could give you a deal on mine!

Don by name and nature. Or at least, by profession anyway

Hi Don, long time no see. How's all in West Virginny??

I have a black car now myself, that I am setting to rights. I'm planning to supercharge it also, but that could take a while

Good to see you around.

Joe

Hey Joe

I've been lurking around. My SVX is in the back yard covered with plastic and duct tape thanks to a tree limb taking out the upper driver side window, denting the roof.... and the need for a wheel bearing. It looks so sad.

Other than that, I'm getting lots of work done around the house during summer vacation. Jean has a "honey-do" list that won't quit!

All the best....Don

PS Don't you have a friend in the Cayman Islands? Maybe it was Andy. It looks like Hurricane Emily is heading that way, and it is one nasty storm.

His name is Mike, and they are back home here for a month's holidays.

He and Anne were paying something crazy for rent, £2000 Stg a month I think. Housing became scarce after the last storm damage. In the last month or two they bought a house on the island and paying the mortgage is way cheaper than paying rent.

Now, of course he has to worry if Emily will damage his property.

BTW, he was very thankful for your offer of books and help the last time. I think the officials looked after the replacements, but the offer was much appreciated.

Did your tree damage come from a storm hit? Sorry to hear your precious is off-road.

Take care,

Joe

well i am sad to say, that i am in the same boat, now SVX-less. I sold my 92 LS-L to earl about a week and a half ago or so. I too am now looking for another SVX and hopefully will someday get another. I know he'll do good for the car, and will get it on the road. what sux now is that I wont be the one getting it there but its good that it went to someone on this network. ~Dennis

Another SVX for Earl?

Amazing.

No Joe, not a named storm....just a thunder-boomer that forced an oak to release a limb.
