From the Forum Rules:
"Flames and baiting members are not acceptable. Posts like these will be deleted and offenders will be warned."

Which part of that rule do you not understand???

no flaming. check - i don't do that.

...but i'm gonna need a formal definition of "baiting", because that's a VERY grey area open to individual interpretation. you could probably warn and ban everyone here based on what i've seen, provided they aren't on your "buddy list". hard to stay within the rules if they aren't understood.

Baiting: [n] harassment. tormenting by continued persistent attacks and criticism. a feeling of intense annoyance caused by being tormented; "so great was his harassment that he wanted to destroy his tormentors"

so you could say that Shadow originally baited me by stating he would make me shove my foot in my mouth?

i'll just state for the record that if i rub anyone the wrong way, please have the cojones to PM me about it. apparently my skin is thicker than most and i don't understand how people can get so upset over text on a message board. i'll shut up now, because the more i try to make sense of this, the more i'll likely get banned.

have a good day!

I did not see that anywhere in this thread. PM me a link to that thread and I'll verify it and then warn Shadow.

Each moderator doesn't read every thread, we split them up so we can each get a few hours of sleep. If someone was harassing you in a different thread, the moderator here may not have been working that thread.

no, that's not the point - i don't want Shadow to be given a warning, because i think this whole baiting crap is B.S. that was just an example of how ridiculous things are. we have disagreements on here all the time, and if i cross the line and somehow offend him in some way, i would expect a PM from him telling me so. you don't even need to get involved - your job is made easier.

baiting is not the problem - how people respond to this supposed "bait" is. Shadow handled it cool. i was in a bad mood last night and i ended up posting a nasty, albeit non-threatening, non- flammatory post.

i apologize to Shadow for that.

someone else (who i won't mention) probably would have responded with personal attacks and ranting and flaming - THAT is the problem. there are choices in how you can react to a post - you can choose to not post, be cool and act like an adult, or to be an idiot.

my point is, apparently i'm on the hit-list, while there's been a "NWS-link-to-a-vulgar-essay" post on here all day, which is clearly in violation of the rules. it doesn't really bother me, personally, but i'm just pointing out the double-standard.

I treat people on here the way they treat me. Alan treats mostly everyone the same way...his way. No big deal really, I have alot of respect for people that aren't afraid to be themselves regardless of who they are around. I just take a different approach.

I don't really give two poops about this whole ordeal. It was a very short lived argument that really only involved me and Alan...and you all should know by now that we are both very accustomed to dealing with each other, so what's the problem?

Don't worry about it.

According to that site, the only safe impreza is the 02 or newer models, and even those just got an OK rating. Obviously I won't harp on the DL/GL, being ancient cars.
Shadow, just like Ken I'm curious how you arrived at that interpretation of the info on that page.

Um...ok...didn't think the chart was too hard to read...but...ok.

Find "Impreza 96-01" on the left hand column...trace across and count the number of green squares ("good" ratings") vs. the number of tests. 2 greens out of 7 tests. That's not good. The 02-05 car was barely tested, but I would think the wagon version, which was well tested, should give you a good indication of how the sedan would fare. Again, count the ratings vs. the tests and you get 4 "good" (or better) ratings out of 5 tests. Much better.

I can't believe Subaru made a car called "Sherpa". Did they only sell it in Tibet? Good thing they got rid of it...looks like it was so dangerous, they were afraid to test it.

First of all, that's not necessary. You can not like me without trying to make me feel stupid in every exchange you and I share on this site. I asked you to explain your interpretation, that's all.

And I see where I interpreted your interpretation incorrectly. I thought you meant that the '02 and newer Impreza was the only safe Subaru. My bad.

I don't see why you're singling out the Impreza, though. Looking at the overall ratings, I see only one 'poor' rating and two 'marginal' ratings. Most are 'good' and some are 'acceptable.'

It certainly suggests that Subaru, like most manufacturers, has improved safety in recent years.

What I don't think it suggests, as you implied, is that there are lots of 'dangerous' Subarus. I disagree entirely and think that, while Sbaru has improved safety, they were already pretty good over their entire line anyway. Other manufacturers still have current models listed as 'marginal.'

I'm actually really curious how the Liberty, which is another name for the Legacy in other markets (Australia, for one, but I don't know where else), got a 'marginal' when the same year Legacy was rated 'acceptable.'

That was actually a completely honest comment, because it took me a few minutes to figure out how to explain it. I was saying that because I wasn't sure what you were asking. Sorry about that.

My point was not that Subarus are bad, but that they're no better than GM on average and that *ahem* certain people might want to be more careful about threads that they start bashing another company's performance when the performance of their own company is no better. Unless of course that person wanted a debate, then fine.

That crashtest.com site is obviously unreliable. I mean, they give the SVX a "good" score on weight
