Senator Kerry flew into Allentown today to give a speach at the Fairgrounds, the same place SHISVX saw Kenny Chesney last week. I was assigned as the press liason. We got to Lehigh Valley Airport at 1330hrs where the State Police and USSS searched our patrol cars and briefed us on the day's agenda. Then we hung out with them as he was 2 hours late. The USSS did spring for 8 pizzas for us. That was nice. After his plane landed the press boarded the busses so we could depart before the motorcade. The best part of this was Sen. Kerry's lovely travel secretary, a beauty named Katie. I got to work with her during the event and even got her cell number. For official business communication. {damn!} I took the buses to the Fairgrounds and then stayed with them during his speach. Gov. Rendell was there as well. When it was all done I led the buses back up to the pick up point. The motorcade left out the other side so we had to play catch up. I made sure we got moving through the traffic, lights and siren to catch the motorcade. The best part was zooming through traffic with two charter buses on my tail on U.S. 22!!! People did move for me. After we got back to the airport the bus driver's both said I did great. Katie and her assistant, a lovely blond named Shannon, both said I did an excellent job. Katie said the press corp. really liked my performance. A guy in an AP jacket came up to me and said I was the best Police Escort they ever had. When we formed up, Sen. Kerry came up to each of us and shook our hands. A lady was taking pictures. I hope mine comes out. The USSS promised they get the photos to us. It was alot of fun, and Sen. Kerry is much taller then I thought. I'm 6'1 1/2" and he was taller then me. I'm still voting for Bush, but he did impress me as being a nice guy.

And an SVX police car would have been cool; cooler then the POS ford I was driving. I'm hoping GW comes to Allentown. I'd like to meet him. It was a fun day. The USSS guys were really cool. One of the agents is a retired Philly cop. Kerry's plane was nice. At least from the outside!

No one gets in it! I'm missing Katie already........<sigh>
