However, I was getting off my shift at the Radio Station several years ago, when the Jock for the FM side (I was working AM - Remember AM Radio? -- I thought not. ) came rolling in LATE. He came whipping into the parking lot, jumped out of his car and started toward the station. Trouble was, his car followed him. Not only had he left the car running, he had left it in gear. I nearly peed my pants watching this bright red hair bobbing up and down (it was all I could see over the car as he chased it from the driver's side), until he got the door open and jumped inside to stop the car. Luckily, the Radio Station had a BIG yard, so, he had time to catch it before it did any damage or ran into traffic. Once he got the car stopped, and backed it up into the parking lot, he put the car in gear, turned it off, calmly got out and, as he walked by me, just kinda gave me one of those "joe-cool, 'how ya doin' nods."
Too, too funny, Randy! All the better if he was your typical dj.

We had someone lose their keys at the video store I work part time. Subaru keys no less, complete with alarm fob, childs picture, house keys, etc... and they never came to claim them. How can you drive somewhere then leave without your keys? Been two weeks now and they still did not call for them. I called the dealer where they bought the car (sticker on the alarm fob) and gave them the serial number off the alarm fob. They were unable to trace the owner since the alarm remote serial is not registered anywhere. Looks like I am out of options and we will probably end up throwing away the whole set soon if left unclaimed.

Anyone know if the newer alarm remotes will work with the SVX?

Johnny

you should drive around town, and every suby you pass you should push the panic button on the alarm and see if it goes off

Did you try giving them the number off the key itself? That's what they would use to cut a spare and, I would think, would be registered somewhere. Just a thought.

Lightbulb Keys....

Hey! Those are mine! Just kidding! I would try the driving thing.. Or you might put out a cheap radio ad. From a broadcasting background as well, I can tell you that radio advertising is cheap cheap cheap. I assume they also had the spare though...so they probably gave up...if someone can remember the date, also, you could check the rental records for that date.

Actually, the first thing I looked for was a number on the key itself but there was none. According to the dealer, the newer Subies are not numbered on the keys but instead have a little tag that is on the keyring when you buy the car. Some people leave it on, others take it off. This person took it off. The only number on the whole setup was that on the alarm fob. Of course if I drove the keys all the way to the dealer they could probably physically identify the key features and look up the owner but if the owner does not miss them badly enough to call about them then we are not going to go to all that trouble. If it was the dealer that is closest I would do it on my personal time for sure but my manager would rather have just thrown them out after 2 weeks for sure if I let him.

That's pretty darned ignorant, in my opinion. Most people don't want to leave a stupid tag on their keys. They put enough crapola on their rings already. Why mess with a tried and true method -- sheesh!

Of course, now they've got the Lexus that doesn't need a key. That's just too Buck Rogers for me. (Of course, MOST of this audience can't relate to Buck Rogers. )
