Glad to hear you are ok. Hopefully you can get both a suitable replacement svx and a great parts car out of this.

I agree- this would be devastating to me - like losing a family member.
Well, lets just say he was going a bit to fast in reverse without looking and I'm sure the insurance company will ask him the same question you asked me.

I HATE (read LOATH) plow drivers, and if one of those ****ing basterds ever did that to my car I would ****ing kill that mother****er and shove his plow up his ****ing ass till it broke out his ****ing teeth. What a ****ing asshole. There would have been blood spilled in that parking lot, and not ****ing mine. God! Now I want to go kill a plow driver.

Honestly I think the guy might have been drunk or something. Teachers and students were saying he drives around the school way to fast. Some students claimed he was doing doughnuts where there were not any cars.

That realy sucks

The same thing almost happened to my car today in Dunkin Donuts parking lot, but I got out of the way just in time.

Stupid plowers don't look before they move.

It also does not help that the top of a SVX is lower then the top of the bed on most trunks.

bummer. Glad UR safe

Whoa. I can see a pickup with a plow get that far up an SVX.
They get pretty light in the back with the plow weight catilevered out over the fronts.
I'm sure that my truck would drive right up the front of my SVX.

My SVX has "saved" itself at LEAST 3 times. (twice with the gas, once with the brakes) It is low in the SUV world and its agility can put it in places the SUV drivers don't expect to suddenly see a car.

I'm glad you are OK. I remember how mad my Dad was when a pickup backed over his 59 Austin Healey "Bugeye" Sprite (3 days after a repaint!) I think there was pickup driver blood on the ground at the scene of that incident. You escaped an assult charge I would have to face when I settled things the old fashioned way.

word bone diddlies. Selling tickets for ten sounds good, but selling tickets for $5 a punch sounds better. Kicks could be worth 8 bucks.

Update, the guy is remoseful and distirbed by this accdient. Apparently there is a federal law saying that a car should not be able go get under another vehical. Like what happened. He will be asking Ford about it. He had a regualr run of the mill for pickup with a plow on it. The truck is not legally allowed to be capable of doing what it did so Ford may end up getting in trouble too.

I've never heard of that law and out here there are as many lifted trucks as stock ones. Some of these have 10" lifts w/ 32" (or bigger) tires and could easily drive over my the front of my car either in forward or reverse. Not to mention there are a few cars out there even lower and sleeker than the SVX. Not only that, but the whole "approach angle" thing is big in the off road community (but these vehicles aren't just driven off road ), that meaning the taller and more vertical an obstacle the truck can climb over, the better.

Glad to hear the guy isn't a total jerk though and that things are looking good for your case.

If anything I would guess it only applies to trucks and vehicals that come out of the factory and not vehicals that were modded after they were bought.

Wow, what an ugly incident. Do NOT let the insurance co. settle for cash with you. Tell them that you want a comparable (or better!- I'd even pay any difference) SVX as a replacement. This forum is wide enough we'll find something for you.

I was thinking you might have pic's of the plow yet on top of your SVX.....

It looks like the SVX 'family' will have a new parts car.

Reminds me of a freeway pileup I saw years ago- everyone in a line stopped too fast and a Corvette (a low-sloped nose late-60's as I recall) was (literally!!) wedged way under the car in front of him.

Glad to hear you're OK. SVX saves another life.

-Mark
