800 horsepower

Went to Burt Subaru (Denver) today to p.u. my F.S. Manuals. Got talking to the counter person about rebuilding my 4eat myself. He mentioned a website called esxmotorsports.com that uses the 4eat for their wrx/sti projects. He didn't remember all the specifics, but did show me a quick look at a link that says 800 h.p. and uses a 4eat.
He remembered reading that the biggest mod was mostly increasing fluid flow for cooling. Ala Level 10.
Thought that was very interesting! 800 h.p. out of 2.0 liters! WOW!!

Yeah, the 4eat is a very strong tranny, it just doesn't have optimal flow for handling the heat produced by the TC when pushing power through it. The level 10 mod increases the ATF flow rate which supposedly fixes the problem. My guess is that an auxillary cooler is still required though. Another mod that level 10 does is replace the friction material in the clutches with better material.

Those 800HP cars are also just drag racing. Sure, the cars are under a lot of stress for those runs - but the tranny isn't exposed to the heat build-up that causes its failure in the SVX.

I don't know if this happened or not, but when the EasyStreet guys were in Atlanta for NOPI last year they went to Subaru of Gwinnett... They ran their car on the dyno at SOG and maxed it out without even using thier 300 shot of NITROUS!!!! ... That car is absoulyly amazing!!! I have pictures from when I went to dinner with the guys... They were looking for a new Front and Rear diff with lower gearing for the tranny in thier car... so that they could get more speed at the end of the quarter... Porter offered the Diff outta my old SVX Auto that we had taken outta my car a few months prior... They said it would work and would be exactly what they were looking for... I don't know if they ever got it or not... Maybe Jason knows if they got it or not... I'd like to think that they did... A peice of my SVX in the world's fastest WRX That's pretty cool...

I'll update my pics in my locker with the ones from the ESX dinner and thier car...
