I did it!!!!!

Having never worked on any of my own cars i never knew it could make me feel to so proud! Last night I changed my plugs, valve cover gaskets and the oil. Besides the cuts and a bruise on my hand from a stubborn bolt all went very smoothly.

I just had to pat myself on the back!!!

Congrats!

Now when do you want to help install my five speed?

Congratulations, Amanda. I've learned enough to replace my transmission myself, and I still rate changing the spark plugs on the SVX one of the most annoying car repairs I've done. You should be very proud!

Thanks guys!! I really thought it was going to be harder than it was. The only part I had a real problem with was getting the bottom bolt off the valve cover. That's what gave me the bruise.

So do I. My mast wont extend. I ordered a replacement, but I haven't had a chance to put it in.

(The scary thing is that sentance is 100% car related and it still sounds dirty)

Congrats! Doing your own work are you car is very, very rewarding.

Thanks - Jon

P.S. do you happen to have the part numbers for the valve cover gaskets? I haven't had a chance to run to the dealer & pick them up & just wanted to check subaruparts.com pricing before I go down. I can usually get parts for about 10% over cost.

good job

nice feeling of accomplishment thats theres little
substitute for....
Having a good selection of tools always helps...
Also saving the $ and knowing its done right
is a good feeling.
If you take on any other projects in the future Im
sure youll do well.... take care

I just bought the 6 pcs gasket set for one of my
cars, complete kit ran about $60 for the set if Im
not mistaken with some wholesale pricing though.
