TPS Install Questions
Just got my new TPS from Auburn Subaru (1st Subaru web site), and I have some questions on install.
First, any specific guidance, and lacking that... Second: I assume the 10-12 ohm at full throttle would be the setting I should target. seems to me that would be a tougher target, and then 3 to 5K ohms at idle would be easy to achieve. Of course, this wouldn't be the first time I've talked myself into a stupid position so.... Last, should I reset the computer, or just drive until it learns the new TPS characteristics? for those wondering why I'm doing this... since day one of my tranny rebuild I've had this single spot in the throttle (very light load, under 2K RPM) where the RPMs would flair a bit on the 2-3 shift. Due to lack of funds I always just make sure I've got adequate throttle or more than 2K rpm happening when it's time to shift - then all is well. I tried taking the TPS off and cleaning with contact cleaner to no avail. tranny guy doesn't want to talk to me until this problem is fixed. so if it's still there I'm back to the shop - but they have always been good & honest with me in the past, so I believe this will fix my problem. |

I usually set all TPS sensors in a range of .5v - 1.0v @ closed throttle but you can use ohms. I think you'll find that the values are reversed, no prob. Just set the closed throttle, it's more important as most cars go into open loop at WOT, making that setting pointless.
You can reset or not reset, it'll still take a few drive cycles to relearn. Prepare for some high idling - around 1100-1500 until it settles in.
