The Amadeus definitely has the wagon thing covered, looks like they made at least 2 prototypes (look in Lwin's locker 2 colors). But I was thinking more of a SVX coupe just badged as an Outback model, ie Andy's mods plus a raised suspension, etc. Like they did in the mid 90's with the Outback SUS (Sport Utility Sedan). It was a Legacy SEDAN (not wagon) with all the cladding, bumpers, etc from the wagon, and raised up like the wagon. In the commercials Paul Hogan drove it around the city through potholes and such and was wearing a tux maybe? You know, somehow inferring that because it was a sedan it was less of an outdoorsy SUV then the wagon version. I pictured them doing the same with the SVX.

One thing I never noticed about the Amadeus before. It is obviously SVX sized and shaped and has our windows, but notice how many differences there are. Almost every body panel looks to be different, extra little angles, bulges, etc here and there. And the front end, far from any area affected by the "wagonizing", is quite different, more modern headlights, grill, bumper, everything. I wonder if this would have all been little things that would have come out on a '98 SVX that never was.

Sorry guys, my job is to find little details and it carries over I guess.

Cool

Does anyone know if an Outback version of the SVX was ever proposed? By the mid 90's Subaru basically only had 4 cars right? Imprezza, Legacy, Forester, and SVX... and the first two had Outback versions and the third basically only came as an Outback styled thing. So wondering if for about 10 seconds marketing thought of doing it to the SVX? It would go against what the car was designed for and probably stand out worse than the Baja, but someone could do it pretty easy, maybe for off road rally purpose?

How about for trip to Wal-Mart purposes?

Ron.

I've always been a fan of the outback sedan. It's pretty much the legacy 2.5 gt with just a bit more ground clearance.

I was pretty taken a back when I first saw it. I mean, an outback sedan?? But still, pretty sweet.

My 2002 Outback VDC sedan had a 3.0 H-6 engine and, despite a higher center of gravity, could take curves at speeds and grades that an SVX wouldn't dream of attempting (VDC on, of course)

Traded it in on the Outback VDC wagon

The older Outback sedan was called the SUS (for Sport Utility Sedan) Am not sure what the engine configuration was though

Look in my locker under SLC meet pics and you'll see a teal and silver SVX. Belongs to another member here.
