Re: Activities for Reading 13

Tom, I should tell you that I am out as far as wanting to get the full buffing or detailing done at Reading. I have a (somewhat troubled younger) cousin in the detailing business and being family I need to do what I can to help him out. I would still have my headlights done though.

Re: Activities for Reading 13

Unless something amazing happens I can't make it to Reading. Still I would like to make a suggestion. I went to a Subaru meet last year. Mostly WRX. Anyway they invited a dent doctor( removes dings and small dents using tools by pushing them out from the inside. He was a big hit. Was doing door dings for $7.00 each and larger ones for $50 to $100. Might be able to find someone in the area. Kid made $1,500 in 4 hours. And a lot of happy WRX owners.

Sean, is your cousin a qualified automotive buffer?
If he can do this he could fulfill the function that Ashley is aparently not going to fulfill.
Please let us know.

He does it as a side business so yes I guess you can say he is qualified. I have not seen his work yet, so I can't personally vouch for it, but I have heard that he is very good. (He did my Dad's car) I can say he was very knowledgeable and professional when he gave me my quote and that he uses Meguiars. Want me to see if he would be interested?

Yes.
I would love for either Jerry or Ashley to do this, but it surely does not look promicing.

Re: Activities for Reading 13

Last year I was only able to show up for one day. I think we came down on Saturday. So I don't know what the typical "schedule" is for the event. Does anyone have a rough outline? Is the raffle always on Saturday night? What day will the "cruise" be if there is one? And what day will the group polish be if there is one? Any other highlights I should know about?

I think we will probably have to limit it to Saturday (and maybe Sunday morning) again as the boy has a track meet on Friday. Of course, maybe I should just leave him home this time. I think the high school girls on the ground floor almost gave him a heart attack last year!

Is anyone interested in a wine/Moscato tasting? I can still pull one together if enough people are interested. There would be only a small fee to cover the cost of the wine. We can do Moscato or Moscato and some other semi-sweet wines like Rieslings or Moscato and a combination of semi-sweet and dry wines.

Re: Activities for Reading 13

I think the raffle should be in the afternoon when most of the people show up instead of at night when most leave. Just my .02 cents.

Re: Activities for Reading 13

I just got hit by the Meet Gremlin! I have to stay here and not make it to Reading this year. We are planning a new building that starts construction in June and I have to be here for a couple of other reasons that THEY SAY is too important for me to leave!

I hope to be there next year. Have fun and post on the site if you have a chance for the rest of us non attenders to see the hostilities, I mean festivities.

Re: Activities for Reading 13

Guess I can weigh in my 2 cents on the scheduling issue at hand

I suggest that on Saturday we hold the cruise. Prior to the cruise, we can do the group buffing, etc. I'm sure there is a local car wash we can all hit if necessary as well (been some time since I've been down there, and I'll hopefully get down to check before Thursday). We could even throw the raffle in with the cruise.

So, schedule wise:

8:30 am - Breakfast (??)
10 am - Wash and detail for those inclined
12:30 pm - Drive somewhere for lunch (I heard mention of cafe?)
1:30 pm - More wash and detail (possible raffle point here?)
2 pm - start cruise (raffle point?)
3-3:15 pm - Arrive Skyline Dr. (raffle point?)
4:15-4:30 - Depart Skyline Dr.

From here, head for dinner, drinks, etc. somewhere. Figure 5-5:30 for dinner, everyone heads out around 8:30-9, and from there ???? We could cruise down to Downingtown for dinner at Victory Brewing Co. Excellent beer, awesome food, and they can handle a large party. Bit pricey, but worth every penny (the beer is the cheapest thing there, and the best
