Battery to alternator continuity is good, but I didn't test the voltage the alternator is putting out.. not sure how. Just put on lead on the battery terminal and one on the alternator?

Re: My possessed car - video

Brian, its pretty easy to check alternator output volts, just use your multimeter between the positive and negative battery terminals while the cars running. Check for volts at idle and revving at around 2000 RPM. Normal voltage is between 13 to 14.75 volts for a good charging system. Any higher and you have problems.... any lower and its not charging at all.

Voltage of the battery while idling is 11.5
Voltage of Alternator while idling is about 11.8.

So by what you're saying, I bought a bunk alternator?

Re: My possessed car - video

Bought a brand new alternator and it's spitting out 14V, and the lights aren't all flickery anymore. Guess I did buy a busted one earlier.

Even though it's tight and spinning it still might too loose to be charging properly. With my friends car the shop told him he needed a new alternator so he had me look at it first and the belt felt tight but I could pull on it quickly and the belt would move without the alternator pully turning. His volts were around 11.9 and after tightening the belt they came up to around 14.
