Possible MAF Malfunction?

Well, this is the 2nd time in about 3 weeks this has happened, so I guess I'd better post up before I'm stuck in DC or something with no way back. I started my car, but it's not the first start of the day, it'll be like after 10 minutes of turning it off and running into a store to pick stuff up, then coming back and dealing with this.

I get a check engine light, some really rough idle, and it won't hold the revs (though last time it eventually held them) I turn the ignition off for about a minute, restart, and the check engine light and idle fluctuation will be there, then the check engine light will start coming and fading as the revs drop and rise, and it then all goes back to normal in a matter of seconds. I would guess that it'd be an air metering issue, but I'm not 100% sure. Anyone with some input?

What code are you getting from the ECU?

Re: Possible MAF Malfunction?

I would start pricing them, that's how my car behaved when the MAF was going. Mine started as a slight loss of power at highway speed then quickly degraded to what you are describing.

No code, it just comes on and off as it faces the issue real time, and since it's idling rough, I figure it has to be the MAF.

I had already paid him for it but he told me you need it more that I do so I told him to let you have it. Hope it fixes your problem.
