Hooked up Jumper cable in reverse
My SVX battery died and someone was going to jump me off but they hooked up the battery cables in reverse and smoke started coming out from under the fuse box under the hood. I put a new battery in but now nothing in the car has power and the battery cables don't even spark when I connect them. I have another old SVX that I can take parts out of. Does anyone know if there is a main fuse that would have burned through or what would have happened to the electrical system when the cables are hooked up in reverse?

Re: Hooked up Jumper cable in reverse
Where is the fusable link located? I have the entire fuse box out of my spare SVX out that I can use. The smoke was coming from the FWD and AC fuses (and all the wires come into the fuse box from under them.)

I checked the fusable link and it was burnt to nothing. I replaced it and everything is working great. Thanks guys!

Re: Hooked up Jumper cable in reverse
Excellent, you dodged a bullet. Glad to hear the fusible link worked. I fried one once changing an alternator with the battery connected. Duh!
