My car is making a creeking kind of noise
Its kinda hard to describe, but it seems to do it mostly when either Im at about 20mph speeding up, or about the same speed when slowing down. It sounds like a frog is under my center console almost. I would like to figure out what it is, but I really dont have a better way to describe it. Has anyone ever heard of something like this? Sorry I cant be much more of a help... -Dennis

Re: My car is making a creeking kind of noise
Very theatrical signature Keith. It's a Texas thing, I expect.
mysvxrocks what you are describing could easily be the noisy baffle plates in the exhaust centre box. The reason I say that is because you are hearing it at about the same speed most people notice this. [It could be a number of things, but possibly eliminate this one first.] What people do is cut out this section and replace with a straight through pipe. This changes the sound of the car, makes it a little harsh and flat, but some people like that. This rattle or buzz from inside the car sounds like it is coming from below the gear change on the console. This is where this middle box [called a resonator] is situated. The loose baffles inside it are affected by sympathetic vibration at the speed you mention, and they tend to groan or rattle. If that's what you have it's not too serious, but it's annoying on an otherwise rattle-free car. Joe

Re: My car is making a creeking kind of noise
Well that isnt bad news to me... I was going to get it cut out anyways. I know its bad. You can tell on the outside, its got a bad buzzing noise. I hope its that. As that is like $50 to have it cut out, and have a straight pipe there instead. I kinda like the sound of it like that, I did it to my Focus.

Re: My car is making a creeking kind of noise
Well if you are going to do that, you will be fine.
One little piece of advice, feel free to take it or leave it. Hold on to the resonator box that you cut out from the centre when you replace with the straight pipe. It is possible to cut open this resonator around the periphery, tack weld or braze the loose plates back into place, weld back on the lid on the resonator box, and it will be good as new. You may not actually like the sound when you hear it with the resonator removed. It is blarey and flat, rather than deep and rumbling, if you know what I mean. Having repaired and put back your resonator, your SVX will sound like new. The other reason you might want to replace the resonator is because it helps gas velocity which gives the engine better torque and power at low revs. It won't feel a lot different, but it will actually be down a few clicks on torque with the resonator out. Your choice. Joe

Re: My car is making a creeking kind of noise
Well, see heres the issue with all that. I know nothing about welding. I took a class in high school, and I failed my goals hard
However, has anyone on here tried this? I was considering this... http://svx-motorsport-accessories.st...svxhiflre.html

Re: My car is making a creeking kind of noise
i had my center resonator replaced with probably about 3' of 2.5" piping.
i personally like the sound much better. a bit more growly kinda what Joe was suggesting about fixing the resonator and putting it back on is completely past me, so no help from me there...ill stick with the 2.5" pipe
