Origin of Subaru

"To discover the origin of Subaru, look to the stars. Because this car company has an interesting history that began long before it was ever a car company. The word "Subaru" dates back to early eighth century Japan and means "to come together and unite". The six-star cluster in the Subaru logo relates to the fact that Subaru is also the Japanese name for Pleiades, an actual celestial cluster found in the Taurus constellation, identified by its six bright stars."

Hrm. Found here:

Yep.. and the JDM name for both our SVX's and the XT's (Alcyone SVX and Alcyone XT, respectively) is derived from a particularly bright star within the Pleideas...

There's a little more info to be found at:

http://www.fhi.co.jp/english/corp/outline/index.html

I could swear that they had a full company history on that site...

....anyway, the Pleiades constellation was chosen for Subaru to reflect the five companies that came together to form the sixth, Fuji Heavy Industries.

Now, that was uncalled for. Plenty of us, including you, Lwin, have posted redundant information.*

The guy found something interesting and shared it with us. Give it a rest, man. Please.

* I say this without any proof. I'm operating on an assumption because it happens all the time. I'm pretty sure that I've done it.
