Carnage pics time!

Well I finally got the pump apart yesterday, and today I got the torque convertor off (had to use the press!) so here are some pics :-)

I'm gonna try and get the T/C seal and bushing from Subaru but hopefully Patrick can get the TC out of the parts car :-) (If not I'll be helpin him yank a motor, cuz I do NOT want to have to buy one...)

And in case you all were wondering, a new trans from Subaru is $4700

This is the oil pump, both sides of the rotor have heat marks, as do all the vanes, and the housing was severely scored, not sure if it'll show up in the pic.

Here is a close-up of the pump drive ears on the torque converter, when the pump seized, the T/C kept spinning, and spread the ears out, which is why it wouldn't come out of the transmission.

Down with a cold today, so I hope you brought a hoist. Hell, we can use some chain and a couple of 2X4s

In other news, I got your trans cleaned up. Oh, and you may want to bring a tool kit, my step dad has been raiding mine.

Chain and 2x4s works, my hoist won't fit in the back of my Subie I'm planning on leaving my house around 9 or 10, and I'll bring my tool kit... If you have a compressor I'll bring my air tools.

I don't have my compressor with me. If you leave your place around 10, that would give me a chance to run to harbor freight to get some chain and a few other misc items. That also gives me time to get a baby sitter, (I've got my 9month old at home)

If you get lost, give me a call. 653-9482.

You are welcome to come, but I likely won't arrive back at home until around 10:15... Mornings are nuts around here.

got it!

Well, today I drove down to Eugene and came back $300 poorer and one tranny richer so with any luck by Saturday (or sooner if I'm even luckier) my SVX will be drivable!

Here's a shot of Patrick yankin the motor out of the Claret... I wish I had gotten a picture of his redneck engine caddy lol, the hoist wouldn't go all the way to the ground, so we tried setting it on some tires, but he was worried about it falling over, so he stacked some wood and a tire in a wheelchair and put the engine on that... Hopefully he'll post a pic of it.

lol well you smiled when you looked up but my camera was a bit slow, stupid cell phone...

Sucked, I got like, 2 miles from my house and some out-of-towner slammed on their brakes and turned in front of me and I had to hit the brakes and the tranny slid forward and rolled over on its side and dumped like a quart of gear oil into the back of my car Luckily I had the Outback tray back there so it's all contained, my car just smells like ATF and gear oil now.

Good news is I got the tranny in today, it's not completely bolted to the engine and the TC isn't bolted up and the exhaust/driveshaft aren't in, but the tranny is IN and the crossmember is bolted up :-) Tomorrow after work I'm going to finish it up and hopefully Saturday I can drive it to the DMV and get it registered.
