Unhappy Fuel/electrical problem???

I own a 1994 SVX with 133K miles. I bought it a few months ago. I have been trying to get a few bugs out of the car. One is that the motor seems to miss occasionally. Sometimes it seems as if it has a lack of power. I occasionally have to down shift to get any decent acceleoration. Sometimes I will be on the gas and all of a sudden it seems like someone flipped a switch and it has 50 more hp. Most recently the problem has become more frequent. It likes to die on me occasionally. Generally at idle. When you first start it or come to a stop. It will usually start and run for 1 or 2 seconds and die. Sometimes it takes 5 or 6 starts before it will run at all. It seems to act as if it is running out of gas.

I have replaced the plugs and fuel filter. I suspect the fuel pump. Can anyone give me some insight? Thanks

It sounds like your MAF sensor is going out to me. I would go about checking that first since its a lot easier to get to. You could also try and clean it, there are a few different ways.

What is the best way to clean? Since the cheapest price I found on a rebuilt one is $260, I might try to clean the existing one first.

Thanks

The two ways I know about are soaking in it vinegar or buying a can of actual Mass Air Flow sensor cleaner and using that. I bought a can of it made by CRC for around 5 dollars at Autozone.

I've got one sitting on my shelf. I'll sell it for $110 shipped to your door.

It came off of a 96. I've put it in my car for testing, and everything worked fine.
