i wouldn't call it beautiful in a classic Ferrari kind-of-way, but it looked aggressive and as if it had a purpose (rally car) up until the recent "urinal grille" model. that one is just plain bizarre-looking.

the new one looks like Subaru said, "ok, let's make it bland, but strange at the same time."

Well, if it makes anyone feel better, the head designer at Subaru has been *ahem* "Let go".

He was in charge of the new Impreza, although he denies having anything to do with the new front end. (hard to believe from a HEAD designer)

I just saw a Subaru commercial with the ne Impreza in it and I thought it was a toyota commercial at first because there wasn't any Subaru logos or anything. I thought it looked like a Camry, but when I saw the front end up close and then Subaru came on the screen. I think the new Impreza will attract more family-type people than speed freaks. I would most likely not buy it.

New Impreza talk.

I don't like the new 08' Imrpezas either but I did see some pics on NASIOC "of" the STI. Some "hidden" track test. All pacaged up like they do with concepts with stealthy paint and tape over sections to change how it looks but the STI doesn't look as bad. If anyone wants I'll post up in the Not exactly SVX forum and post a link here.
(edit: P.S. I love my gen 1. And I like the looks of the 06-07'.)

Don't forget that the vans were the auto of choice. During that time everyone wanted a van. They weren't quite as money and much more practical at the time.
